No, I didn't typo hump.  

VS. Shmup is a two player shmup where you aren't actually directly pitted against player 2.
Instead, you're playing together, shooting at the same enemies.

You both gain individual scores, and the one with the highest at the end is the winner.

The catch?
Working together will yield higher points for both sides. It might help you get through the level-- But it might also put your buddy ahead of you in points.

Game mechanics gear towards co-operative gameplay, while the main objective is to beat your friend. Creating a double-edged sword, pick-your-poison, infinitely two-sided type of game dynamic.
If I can pull it off right, it should be neat.

No guarantees from me-- This is just an idea so far.
