Ah, I see what the problem is here. It's the screenshot itself. It's supposed to look like she's out of place in that picture. She's more detailed than the background which is supposed to look childish, with limited colors, and like it's been drawn using crayons. Here, look at this other slide from the same cutscene: (there are a few pixels in her hair that I forgot are in this screenshot, I've fixed them in the game version) And yes, I did make it in msPaint. I don't tend to use anti-aliasing too much, because I prefer things to look very crisp, unless anti-aliasing is needed for subtleties or anything. I've used it a ton in the graphics of this game already actually, just probably not in many noticeable places.

I've never seen Rakugaki-otoko ever use anti-aliasing in his pixel art, I think it's just part of his style. He does make it in MS Paint, after all.
Surely the fact he uses mspaint has no bearing on whether he chooses to AA though? This looks great man, very oldschool and japanese.

This is so great, i really like how you do cutscenes. You obviously put a ton of work into these and it shows. One thing I would suggest for the "crayon" is to draw each background twice and animate it slowly. I think a wiggly background like that would make it seem more childish

Thank you! I hope you understand this cutscene I've been showing here is unique to one scene, though. Most of them are not like this. And the animated crayon idea is nice. Makes me think of Yoshi's Island. I might do that, thank you.

Thanks! Small update. On stages with water, when you jump in or out of the water, little droplets will splash up into the air along with the normal splash sprite. Also, after touching water, Jack will drip for a little bit before drying. Also to answer your question, DaCo, I think it took about 2 years all together? I'm still making more, too.

Thank you, Conker.
Also a small gameplay update. I don't know if people really had a lot of trouble with the enemy homing missiles, but I finally put a feature in that I've been meaning to, and just kept forgetting about, Any and every attack (besides one) that Jack can perform can destroy an enemy missile. This means that if you have good timing, you can bypass dodging missiles and just destroy them when they get right in your face. I've been doing everything I can to make the game seem equal in terms of the universal rules that apply to Jack and the universal rules that apply to enemies. Enemies can be crushed or killed by other enemies' projectiles and attacks in most cases just like Jack. Enemies also can't shoot through things that would normally block Jack's projectiles as well.

Hey there, I'm Squidlet and I really just wanted to say your game looks awesome, and I can't wait to try it out. Also, I was wondering if you would allow me to make a video of your game on YouTube. The video would feature me playing through your game a little and a short little review! I'm not very known on YouTube and this video would be one of my first videos, but I feel like it would really get not only your game out there, but my name and this forum as well. Thank you for your time, have a good one! (Posting a similar message on a few other games on this forum).
