I am literally wiggling in anticipation. Last year was my first. I met and spoke to the developers of my favorite game, hung out with people I idolize for their work, connected in person with internet friends of years past and learned what great people they were, and got a first real taste of what it means to be an independent game developer out in the real world. I was surrounded by people who like what I like, think about what I think about, and do what I do in a million different ways, when just two years before I didn't even know anyone else who made games, except via the web. It will take all of my willpower to prevent myself from emphatically manhugging EVERYONE when I arrive. WHO ELSE IS SUPER-STOKED?

It'll put me in the poorhouse one day but on that day I'll have no regrets.

THIS GUY!
I am very stoked, I'd really like to meet some awesome people and especially developers. I haven't met many in real life and it would be cool to get to hang out with some people who share my interests!

Dunno if I'll be getting into the actual event this year unless a) someone hooks me up with a free pass last minute (this has happened the past 3 years, so who knows) or b) I use one of my old passes to slip past security in hopes that they don't notice it's not exactly the same... But I probably wouldn't do that, heh.
AT ANY RATE, I will be around.

I'm pretty excited!
Between GDC and GGJ, years seem very front-loaded with the awesomeness. I need to start getting myself to TigJams or something.

Last year was my first. I met and spoke to the developers of my favorite game, You got to meet with Derek and Alec?? Why does it have to be in San Francisco, and not somewhere more convenient for me... like Melbourne, Australia? One day I'll be at the GDC though. ONE DAY! EDIT: On a side note, I have a GDC '10 t-shirt :D..

The indie community is small, though it might not be for much longer. I had the chance to strike up conversation with all kinds of great people. (Known or unknown!) Hung around a good part of the week with JW, Brian and Paul (Pietepiet), since me and them have some history in internet-land. Also, I hate to say it but the ever-so-expensive Indepdendent Games Summit is a great context to meet folks. Failing that kind of moolah, IndieCade (Octobers, in San Fransisco, free) is a good alternative. It really sounds like European and Asian/Oceanic indies need to organize their own events. Can you imagine what an Australian or Japanese indie game event would be like?

I'm definitely excited. I went last year without much to show people and it was still an awesome experience. This year my team has Octodad so it's sure to be much crazier. Many of the talks this year also are looking to be fantastic!

I guess one problem is that doujin and chinese hobbyists are likely to be even more poor than American and European ones. :/
Also, china is scary. It should be in Japan or Indonesia or summat.
