I be workin' on a game, I say.

</southern accent>

It draws a lot of inspiration from Cave Story, in the sense that it takes place in a cave. Cave Story

Working on the main hub at the moment, having trouble with a good design.

Yeah, I'm not gonna stop working on the game until I've made it the best it can be.

This has the potential to be the next Cave Story.
I shall look forward to this. Carry on, I wish you the best of luck.

Ug, just got 4 permanent teeth pulled. Durr...?

However, that leaves me plenty off time off from school to work on the game. I hope to get about halfway through the mountain stage. (That's underground. An underground mountain?) Addicted

Finished all of the mountain last week, and I've just begun the Waterway today. It's a pretty expansive level, with a massive lake at the bottom. Theres a corridor that contains a bunch of enemies, and a fish boss somewhat resembling the fish from Rango. Smiley

It's not a total rip-off, but the beginning is. Being similar is kinda the whole point.

Its always better to give subtle nods to a series you draw inspiration from.
Same with the gameplay and maybe some ideas. Right now I was pretty much like "Huh, Cave Story?" when seeing the first screenshot, not to mention the name and the player sprite.

Mmm, rambling. I guess its better to try and make something original building on the ideas from previous games, instead from outright copying it otherwise the comparisons will become inevitable and frankly, very just.

Well, I guess I haven't posted in a while, so...

I've been making a lot of progress. All of the second area is finished, and I'm just having the game transport you back to the hub after you beat the boss. There is also a water suit so that you can breath underwater. There are a few loose ends to tie up, such as dying when you run out of air.

My goal is to finish by the beginning of April. The third area is pretty simple. Just a long narrow passage that has a hell of a lot of enemies.

In other news, Sucker Punch was AWESOME.

Cave story rip or not, I love indie platformers usually. And I second that, Sucker Punch was definitely awesome. People are complaining, but I paid to see hot chicks beat the crap out of badguys. Product performs as advertised Smiley

Back to your game, do you have an updated playable demo out? That'd be nice to see. Can't really give you any useful feedback otherwise.
