You should go with that graphical style, maybe with a slight bit of texturing. It looks cool.

The style reminds me of clonk.
- Compared to it your concept looks a bit plain at the moment.

Best luck with your idea, I hope you find a nice team to work with.

Thanks for the comments.
Yes, it needs texturing of course, just a concept of the "shape" of the things.
Thanks for the clonk link! I played that game a long time ago and forgot the name. I'll put it in the post because it is, in fact, one of the games that inspired this idea.
The idea I have is quite similar to that game but in a tile-based world instead.

I've made the first prototype of the terrain generator.
The next pictures are from a 100% randomly generated cave map:

In my opinion you should make the sharp edges a bit rounder.

Only a bit, but yes. I'll do it when I start texturing.

Here, try improving this tileset:

I'm looking for a pixelated style (no antialias, no alpha, etc...)

I am. Right now I'm working on a better algorithm for the terrain generation.
I'll post a screenshot later if I can.

I could do character sprites for you, if you like. Just PM me the details of what you need and I'll get to work. Bored as hell these days, something to do Grin

I don't know if you are getting my pm's because in this forums there's no message after sending or either there is some problem with my browser.
Anyway, for al the spriters who want the place on the team I've started a small contest:
Draw a 16x16px character with a palette of 16 colors max and send it to me. The best one gets the place. You can use the character I made as a template (download it from here: http://www.mediafire.com/?zcxl9k0235tpk11).

As a huge fan of Clonk, this sounds like something I'd love to play.  Smiley

That sounds pretty interesting. I also had an similar Idea for a Flash game but suddenly I realized that I was starting to build an 2D Version of Minecraft  Undecided Just without Crafting.

It's hard to avoid the comparation, but I'm doing my best to give the project it's own personality Smiley

BTW, still looking for a spriter to join the project (I understand it's hard to believe in something you havent seen yet... hopefully when I have something playable I'll catch someone's interest)
