Some things that have been added: The enemy engine is mostly done. Enemies are now spawning on the map. They can harm player and can be shot down (with owls, if you please ) The whole level start/end/advancement mechanic is working. Somehow, this is always a pain in the ass to write because you need to do a lot of cleanup, reseting, tedious stuff like that. If somebody doesn't quite feel a man enough - player skin can be switched between boy/girl Most of the sound effects are in place.

This game is so pretty... I love the tiny-sprite style on it! (Plus, I have a beagle so the title totally caught my eye) I can't wait to be able to play it...

Possibly because: 1- Particles have a tendency to make people tinker with them for hours instead of coding more important stuff. 2- He wants to improve his pixel art animations without relying on particles. 3- He had a bad experience with particles. A very bad one.

A very bad one. It's a mix of all three in 40-30-30 percentages :D Particles are tempting but love alpha blending. But pixel sprites doesn't love alpha blending. And I love both, alpha blending and pixel sprites. It's a love triangle, see.
