So, I have some conceptual arts concerning a group of characters I'm working on. There's about 6 more that I couldn't really get fit into the space left here, and I think between this and some framework done on my Dynamic Music Generator, I'm about to call it a day.



Not really detailed at the moment, and was close to getting another penciled in on the center/left, but the proportions (the head in particular) never did work out right. But what do you think so far? (NOTE: Slash'M Dude, the second guy on the second row, is supposed to be "a short guy," so proportions that guy *is* deliberate.)

They look decent so far, but most of the characters have no personality. For instance, the character on the last row, second from the right, what are her abilities? What is she like? I feel the you should be able to tell that by looking at them.

Maybe a few more detailed pictures would help some of the artists around here do a sketch.

(BTW, that is a really badass picture, how you just sneaked yourself in there, I can picture you saying, "Read it and weep, mothaf***as.")

Most of the characters might take some describing, at this point; although they are more fleshed-out in concept than it might appear from this shot. Their abilities are contrived mainly from three sources: a popular gaming protagonist, a MegaMan Robot Master or two, and a fighting style as identified in Street Fighter or King of Fighters, with a little bit of Tekken technical thrown in. For instance:

SCHORR SCHWINHAUT

This tall, firey redhead is pretty full of herself at times, and is not easily impressed with others. As such, she tends to spend a lot of her time by herself; and compensates for her loneliness with further achievement and personal growth, ironically seperating her from others even more. It's kind of a vicious cycle, really.

Special Power: Rock'n Fire

Fighting Style: Emperor (inspired by Sagat, Rugal, and Krauser)
Favorite Games: Rogue, King of Fighters, Galaga

I was hoping her back-turned, angsty look did a good enough job of portraying this persona. Kinda going for "if Rugal or Krauser happened to be a hot chick."

I wish I could get a good scan of it! My webcam/lighting kinda sucks. Probably just need to ink it over. Maybe over tonight, sometime.

ROCK'N GUY

An inconsistently unemployed "urban adventurer" living day-to-day, Rock'n was born with injured vocal cords. He learned to speak with a guitar, which is what he uses to commumicate with. His first word was "die," but it's not because he's moody or morose, mind you. He just likes tabletop RPGs.

RUSH'N BITCH

Quick, petite, and pretty hot; Rush'n seems to always attract plenty of unwanted attention. For this reason, she tends to be a bit of a rude loner that's a little full of herself. She talks to herself a lot. Very few can keep up with her, but those who do may find it to be worth their while.

Fighting Style: Judo (think Abel, Cammy, Blue Mary, Michelle, or Julia)

MINER ZETTBACH

A big mighty earthy guy, Miner is a real Mr. Fix-It at heart. He's an honest-hearted dude that loves building stuff, but he's horrible at sticking to budgets or deadlines. Because of this, he's always running out of cash. He also has a soft (fumbly?) spot for damsels in distress. And face it, aren't they all?

Special Powers: Rock'n Block (like a LEGO, not a defensive manuever), Miner Quake

Fighting Style: Boxing (think Dudley, Rick, Vanessa, and Steve)

A mysterious girl who loves to have fun, Roll'r never goes far without her rollerblades on. In spite of her easygoing attitude, she wrestles with inner turmoil about being a nice person who does the right thing. The girl's a math whiz too, and a total clutz whenever she isn't on wheels!

A cool beach bum with a wild, flirtacious streak. He has an affinity for ice cream, and is pretty athletic, but tends to be lazy. In total irony, he gets cold rather easily, and prefers to stay where it's warm.

This pair of trickster twins use their telepathic link to appear to move too fast to see. It's because they're masters of misdirection! Although they tend to be easily distracted by shiny things. They zoom around in performance vehicles, and model for tuner mags.

A soldier with a big build, and an even bigger voice. Guard'n loves hitting karaoke bars in his time off. And did we mention football? Yeah, he likes macho stuff like that, too. If you hadn't guessed. But he still sleeps by the night light...

A muscular, but still well-proportioned lady with a soft spot for animals and animal rights. Tends to feel more comfortable in fuzzy costumes and accessories for the most part. She's also especially proud of her outlandishly long fingernails. Yet somehow, she can still use a phone with those things!

A cross-dressing "legend in his own mind," Drag'n does have the skills it takes to be a real hero. However, he's easily excited, and tends to get carried away when it comes to swordplay. Or anything competitive, really. If it's one-on-one, he'll take on anybody. And look fabulous doing it!

A well-respected leader of the Rock'n Navy, Col. Corn is always committed to doing what's right and just, and upholding good old-fashioned family values. His daughter however, makes this very difficult for him to do! He firmly denies his association with Cap'n Crush to his superiors, claiming their involvement to be more of a rivalry; but he secretly fears for her safety.

A regular Carmen Sandiego, this pretty-looking pirate queen is always hip-deep in mischief. Colonel Corn's nickname "Pop" comes from her, although many have no idea they're actually related. A bit of a daredevil, Crush often has a tendency to throw caution to the wind, and uses her hot appearance to distract others. She can always count on her Pop to save her if all else fails, or at least provide a good distraction while she makes her escape!

Though he's a bit of a prankster, Roadie O's drive in life is to bring joy and positivity to everybody within his range of influence. Unfortunately for him, his peppy attitude and pushy disposition often tend to have a very different effect on others, much to his own dismay.

BOMB'R CHICK

This quirky, upbeat prankster girl loves to surprise others with loud and startling things. Really gets into scary movies. She's a bit too hyper and quick to react to things for her own good. Plus, she's a terrible sport when the joke's on her. Kinda makes her the terrifying one!

A supposed defender of the innocent, she's very quick to bound into action, and slow to bother with why. She really, really likes to fight too, and will often zone into a fight so much, she'll forget what it's even about! But she's always a team player, regardless of what side she's taken.

This tomboyish brat is a bit of a government-conspiracy theorist. And she might be right! She has a tendency to lay low, hide a lot, and disguise herself to get around. Rumor has it she's ex-Special Forces, but has never been deprogrammed. One thing's for sure though; she needs to lay off the smokes! Her manly appearance and raspy voice tend to send the wrong signals sometimes...
