i played this demo for some kickstarter game about mice https://sketchylogic.itch.io/small-saga

the level design is really bland and so are jrpg mechanics in general but the presentation is really nice. i thought it might appeal to somebody here, like the rabbit guy

hey just fortnite, they update frequently enough that's it's not boring, and finally a shooter where gameplay isn't deadly peekaboo, you can even ignore the multiplayer, it's just a solo game with other player pretending to be hi level npc bot, so you don't have to suffer social standard.

The great thing it has going, is to have a generic set of movement for the player character. So any change they do is updating map and items and game mode, which they cycle frequently enough, with overlap (ie not the entire current set of map region or items or game mode) that it has familiarity and novelty at the same time. This made balancing much easier on the back end, which can adapt to new meta or change it on the fly.

Also having limitation of inventory is what keep the game fresh as you progress, you always have to balance what kind of strategy you want to favor and change it on the fly based on what items you find, which mean changing dramatically how you play in how they combine to allow new tactics. Items set are constantly balanced to favor offense, defense, mobility, or sneakyness and you can literally move to any of those "build" organically depending on opportunity. The last addition of the storm flip bottle is insane in tactical use (flip the state of the storm, safe inside storm, unsafe if outside, works with overlap).

You can win by just being smart and reading situation correctly, a lot of hi level player (the sweat or tryhard in the fortnite slang) tend to lock themselves in a playstyle and loadout who have very clear counter (offense and defense) which open them greatly to well place move.

Also you can win without firing a single weapon I suck at it, but I favor mobility, it feels good to be against sweat and still coming out on top!

I'm also not playing Judgment, b/c I'm waiting for the Official Superb Joe Seal of Quality™ before I dare to dive into the game.

Instead I'm enjoying GT Sports and Dreams.

Playing My Friend Pedro (Switch). Not a fan of the writing, but it plays like the best possible version of a 2D Max Payne game.

Just finished Return of the Obra Dinn. All is right with the world. That was the best Sherlocking experience I never knew I wanted. The only problem is now I want more of it.

Been playing a lot of factorio recently, trying to get into dying light with my bros in multiplayer but the mouse lag is killing the experience faster than we are getting killed by zombies... I do have about 750 unplayed games on my steam list that I plan on playing once I retire though!

A Short Hike just came out, and it's a really great time if you're looking for something relaxing and nontraditional. I haven't finished it yet, so I don't know just how short the hike is, but every moment of it has been a joy so far. https://adamgryu.itch.io/a-short-hike

A Short Hike is a lovely game.
Took me around 3h leisurely playing it to complete everything, but it's probably only an hour long game but it's worth it.

Broke down and bought judgment, only completed the first chapter so far but it is really not clicking for me and that is shocking for a Yakuza game. The new additions so far are tedious, the immediacy and brutality of the combat animations has been replaced with flowery movie style Kung Fu stuff where you do 8 million flips and it just seems totally disconnected from the button presses. Also the writing and cinematography is a huge step down from 6. I hope it gets better
