Alright, so I have finally decided I will finish this game and get it off my plate. I originally started Ultraviolent Moon Patrol for the VGNG competition, but I ran out of time to actually finish it. So today I am going to sprint and try to get this thing done. I'll have working AI, text, levels, high score, sound, and of course sticky gibs :D

For those who didn't see any screenies during the compo, here is a youtube clip of an early alpha version. Since then I've added a few things, and by the time I post again tonight it should be done.

If I don't finish it, I'll at least be A LOT closer. And the game will be completely open source via http://code.google.com/p/uvmoonpatrol/  I don't want to get sued by Williams, so this is an academic open source project Smiley

Well, I guess tehre's no big problem with reusing the game, but it still feels a bit unethical.

At least if you make sure a LOT of stuff about it is procedural I guess there will be no problem. Otherwise it might come off as cheap.

Huh, I'm not sure why Derek moved this to the proc gen contest? I actually intend to release this as a finalized VGNG entry/my own project Smiley But hey if he wants it here I'll stick it here. I probably won't finish tonight, but I'm sprinting! I have working font/text, more cleanups, I'm making the level editor right now, I added some more sprites for bad guys, and the game is definitely ready for sound! :D

Well if you really don't intend it for this compo then chage the picture to the VGNG one. Derek probably just slipped up.

You can also move it to Art/Design... but Projects is for TIGForums collaborations only.

Also, good luck!

Ahhhhh gotcha, will remember that for the future Smiley

Quick update, its not 100%, but I made a crap load of progress today. I have all the sprites needed (except land mines & possibly a few other misc vehicles), I've got a semi-working level editor, a really clean level system that only costs 2kb per region (A-Z, 25 regions, 50kb for the entire game in level data :D )

Here's a screen cap of my desktop running the game, level editor, gEdit to do my python coding, and Code::Blocks for my mingw32 cross-compiling.
