I am about to get buried in exams and assignments. So I'm making a 24 hour game to squeeze some creativity out of my last free day for the rest of the month.

It's going to be about yelling your enemies to death and will feature terribly recorded sfx.
Constant updates to follow.

JIMMY IS HAVING A VERY BAD DAY.
He just found out he has a disease that causes soundwaves to hurt him. It also weaponizes every sound he makes.
Also, he has a bit of an anger problem.

Game will be a simple spammy shmup with a tiered upgrade system based on louder and angrier noises being different attacks.

Attacks (tier 1/2/3):
ARGH/ARGGH/ARRGGH - Basic Bullet Attacks
BLAGH/BLARGH/BLARRGH - Wave Attack (Low Damage, Penetrates Enemies)
CRAP/HELL/SHITE - Sniper Shot (Fast and direct) probably renaming these
RRGH/RRAGH/RRAAGE - Circlers (Rotating tiny attackers)
AAH/AAAH/AAAAH - Multidirectional Bullets
NO/NOO/NOOO - Random Direction Bullet Spam
FEH - Local Area Bomb/Shield Thing
ARGRAGAGHH - Knock A Plane Down On Your Enemies (Smartbomb)

Stages:
HOSPITAL
Boss: The Otolaryngologist
STREETS
Boss: A Police Helicopter
PARK
Boss: Your Brother Who Is Cooler Than You In Every Way

Gameplay:
Collect newspapers to increase anger level
Z to upgrade current weapon and reset anger level
X to shoot (gonna have autofire)
Spc to activate shield
Enter or Scream into a microphone to activate ARGRAGAGHH

So far: it's all programmer art.
Anyone got a good lores pixel font with space around the letters in each tile? Construct's Spritefont plugin doesn't put spaces between each letter unless you put it into the sprites manually.
Woop, Oddball made a perfect one during Assemblee! Rock on!

the attack names are pretty inspired. Are the bullet graphics the actual words?

UPDATE:
Thought I would do it without arrays. Toiled for a while.
Realized I needed arrays. Fixed it all in 2 minutes haha WOO

The infrastructure is almost done. Then bullets, enemies, and graphics go on top in quick succession.

PROGERS REPROT after the first 8 hours:

Bullets, shields, pickups, calculations, arrays, story (what little there will be) all done.

Remaining:
Enemies
Enemy Bullets
Lives
Scoring
(All of which I will likely finish in the next 2 hours)

And every Artwork.
(Which will take me the rest of the time, if not more)

Also that sleep thing.
Used to be able to do all-nighters easily. Can't anymore.
But I'm getting up early so I'll have a few hours in the morning to finish up/fix bugs/panic unmercifully.

FINAL VERDICT:
Failure.

Due to a single bug that just would not let go no matter what I did.
That, and that whole sleeping thing.
Never got a chance to make the art or the level arrays.
But I built a system that allows for simple generation of enemy patterns with varied stats.

I'm going to keep working on it, but not so seriously.

Arrow Keys to go.
Collect papers to increase the sound meter, press Z to level up the currently highlighted sound.
Collect the red stars for points.
Press Space to use a temporary shield, of which you have 3.
Getting hit causes all sounds to lose a rank.
Getting hit without any ranks in any sound causes you to go boom.

Press A to spawn a rudimentary enemy.
The bug that wasted my last hour was trying to stop them shooting in unison, but it's been a fiddly bitch.

It may or may not create a little file on the side called 'arghray' (the process may have been rolled into the exe by Construct, I'm not sure.) It's just an array of attack data, you can delete it afterwards.

One more thing to follow before I put this aside to work on an essay.
