Hey, guys! Remember A Game By Its Cover?

Remember how it was inspired by "FAMICASE"?

Well, that's an annual thing, you know! 2011 was just released, and the art is great.

Check out the gallery here!

Do you guys have any personal favorites?

Here are mine:

Also:

What if we organized a YEARLY AGBIC? That might be pretty cool! I'd love to head it up myself.

I would have loved this even more if they had simply made the matching "Japanese" case with adorable anime graphics to sit beside it.

Oh my, these are pretty inspiring. I'd love to see a little mini-compo, even if it's not frontpaged or anything...

Okay, since I think EVERYONE wants another AGBIC (and I, for some reason, can't make a poll), let's try this question:

WHEN would you want AGBIC2: FAMICASE BOOGALOO?

HOW LONG should the competition be?

Should it cover ALL of Famicase, or JUST Famicase 2011?

Thanks for the interest, guys! Wow!

NO

WE NEED AGBIF

A GAME BY ITS FAMICASE, ANNUAL COMPO

(i like week compo most myself -- maybe run it for a month and suggest a shorter timeframe so that latecomers don't miss out i don't know)

I'm glad to be your trusted source, and thanks for taking my post.
I think just one month would be fine, and I'm perfectly OK with June to September.

I, personally am on a very long trip from June 16th to July 30th. So those are difficult for me. Sad

I could probably still organize it on parts of this trip though; there will be a few days (and a week in the start) where I am completely occupied, though. We'll see.

These are awesome. I like that Meteor Night one and the one above it the most. I wouldn't participate, but it would be cool to see a competition using again.

I don't have much of a preference as to when it is. I'll be at PAX one weekend out of August, but that wouldn't be a dealbreaker.

I don't think I could finish a game in less than a month...anywhere from 6 to 8 weeks would be my preference.

I like the idea of an annual "AGBIF" compo that's strictly tied to that year's Famicase entries. One of the things I enjoyed about AGBIC was seeing different takes on the same cover, and limiting the pool would encourage more of that.

I should really try participating in longer compos (i.e. month-long ones) and just treat them as 1-week compos, plus bonus time if I happen to find inspiration + motivation.

But seriously. There is a lot of Fami-love.

Somebody should contact the Famicase guys, as I know those covers are shown at some exhibition, it would be awesome if along that they could show the games we make out of them.

Of course they would need to look like real Famicom games, but still.  Noir

Exactly my thoughts on the matter! Of course, the pool IS awful small, so I'm afraid that you'll have TOO much overlap... we'll figure this out, I'm sure!
