I like the idea of an annual "AGBIF" compo that's strictly tied to that year's Famicase entries. One of the things I enjoyed about AGBIC was seeing different takes on the same cover, and limiting the pool would encourage more of that.
Exactly my thoughts on the matter! Of course, the pool IS awful small, so I'm afraid that you'll have TOO much overlap... we'll figure this out, I'm sure! I also think this would be fantastic. How about make it from the current and last year alone?

/signed. If the pool for this year is small, then maybe allowing to use some of the carts from last year isn't a bad idea.

I'm doing a google summer of code project until mid August, so I'd prefer any time after that... but I would probably try and fit making a very simple entry in, even if it's earlier that.

August to September is apparently a good time to do this.
It also seems that using 2011 and 2010 is a good way to do it as well, since it provides variety, but also encourages new cases to be used.
Maybe even a dibs system could be set up, similar to Action 52, but with more slots per case?
Sadly, August is quite far away; hopefully everyone would remain this excited for when it draws near!

Who cares if a particular cart is super popular? The games are unlikely to end up very similar anyway. BTW if when this happens I have too much free time, I will definitely make a few games for a few cartridges.

- Sounds like a good time.
- I still call dibs on TOUCH!!
- We're always excited for compos.
- To possible judges if this goes through in the agenda: Please don't limit it to a mostly Windows-only thing. There need to be judges with other operating systems.

One more vote for annual Famicase compo. EDIT: Oh I get it, the Bubble Gal one is a parody of American vidya cover art. Now I feel dum.

Last AGBIC we didn't do dibs, did we?
I like the idea of multiple users having a shot at doing the same game. I personally enjoy seeing how different people interpret the same cartridge art.

I like seeing a lot of different takes on the same art, don't think you need a dibs system. It's just a for-fun event, less rules is better.

It didn't no. People are just calling dibs for fun; check out when I suggested AGBIC in the Ideas thread. Lots of people started calling dibs. A dibs system is unnecessary, ayup. I'll just HEAVILY ENCOURAGE variety and fun! I also would love to do an award system, similar to what Melly did last year; awards are always nice!

I'd love AGBIC to be an annual event. I missed it last year, only hearing about it after the closing date.
Overall I think it worked well last year, judging by the results and interest.
If it was to happen this year you could count on at least one game from me.

If the management aren't interested in making AGBIC an annual event, what are our options?

Make it ourselves I guess? The competition forum is open for any type of unofficial compo.
Though having it be an official TIGS compo would be even better of course.

Awesome! You might still need to contact Melly who ran the original AGBIC and ask him whether he's OK with the whole project though. I mean I'm sure he won't mind but it seems like the proper thing to do. He hasn't posted here in a while tho.
