Terry, just a little issue: I'd played the game without extracting the first few times and got a high score. Then I extracted it and got another high score, but it didn't overwrite my previous one, so now there are two Kaos in the list

You can delete the one with the lower score if you want.

Um, the game just locked up for a few seconds. It happened right after the GAME OVER words showed up. I'd gotten a new high score and µTorrent is on at full speed, so maybe it happened because it was uploading or something?

Sorry about that - I used easyCurl with a wrapper rather than doing it all properly, so the delays when uploading the score wasn't really anything I could do anything about

I'm both very impressed and annoyed at the current top score - it's probably ligit, but it really annoys me that he didn't even bother to enter a username (I filled in the "blank" bit)

Here are a few tips in case you want to take another shot at it:
 - Make sure you shoot all the motherships - they're worth several times more than everything else
 - Try to get at least one cargo ship in each traffic wave!
 - You get a big score bonus if you collect a yellow powerup when you already have a nuke equipped
 - Your score gradually increases over time when you're not using your shield.

Even with all that 2.7 million is an excellent score (well above mine, actually) - so it's probable given the random nature of the game that he got lucky, heh.

Hey Terry, I showed Self Destruct to a friend and he loved it. However, he told me that, even though he got a very high score (more than a million points), it vanished from the list when he closed the game. He said his Internet connection was working alright. Any ideas?

Fraid not - the only thing I can think of is that the php upload script failed, but that shouldn't happen. Maybe my server was being glitchy

I tried that playback/output frame thing to create a video of the game. Not that happy with the results (there's a slight sound sync issue and the video compression makes everything a bit blurry), but I'll keep tweaking it until I get it right

I can't play this game at all. I always get the same error:

Network failure

And then it closes.
Any suggestions?

Oh dear Afraid the network stuff wasn't tested that well, so I'm not sure. So long as you're online it *should* work. Are you using any particular firewall? Do you have connection problems with any other online games?

I'll add "offline mode" to the list of things to add at some later point.

This was atg work so yeah maybe the firewall ruined it :-)

I have questions about the score. Does it subtract anything from the score if you get hit? Also, do you get points for every ship you blow up with your nuke or is it just there to get you out from tough situations?

I also had that network error before I think. ZoneAlarm asks if you wanna accept Self Destruct everytime you start it up, even if you check the "remember this answer" box so I just added it to the list of accepted programs in ZoneAlarm and now it works.

It's tough to distinguish one power-up from another, give them more recognizable shapes perhaps.  Also, the shield needs to animate somehow, just a purple blob looks unpolished on this awesome game

It would be cool if in the later waves foreground stuff started appearing, like asteroids and stuff, to distract the player and screw with visibility.
