Description
Simple web-based bridge building game that uses the Farseer Physics Engine to provide more realistic bridge construction and destruction.

Playable Online
http://andrewgarrison.com/WebGames/BridgeBasher.aspx

iPhone Version
http://andrewgarrison.com/MobileGames/BridgeBasher.aspx

System Requirements
Silverlight 2.0 - The game will play in your web browser, but requires Microsoft Silverlight 2.0.  If you don't have Microsoft Silverlight installed, the game's website will provide a link to the installation package.  You can find out more about Silverlight here: http://www.microsoft.com/Silverlight/

Feedback
Realism - Is the game realistic enough?  Do good bridge designs hold up well and bad designs crumble?

Balance - How difficult is the game?  I want it to be easy enough that someone who plays for 5 minutes can do fairly well, but 'beating' the game will take closer to 30-45 minutes.  I define beating the game as beating IMPOSSIBLY HEAVY! on the Word Test.

Game Modes - I am quite fond of the joint monkeys, but are the game modes too silly?  Any ideas for any other game modes?

Bridge Codes - Post your bridge codes!  I am anxious to see your designs.

My turn! My Turn!

Average, I suggest you go post about yourself in the introductory thread in order to show that you arent just advertising your game here and nothing else.

Your arent the first to do it. not by a long shot, but please, it would make everybody feel better if you talked about yourself a bit more and tried to interact with the community.

Thank!

Finished the word test. Seems like you can just improve your bridge by adding more and more beams. Maybe figure out some kind of price for beams.

It's pretty cool, though. I've been looking into Silverlight, and it's looking more viable now.

EDIT: All in all, it took me about 10 minutes to beat.

I posted to the obligatory introduce yourself thread.  That was fun.

All in all, it took me about 10 minutes to beat.

10 minutes!  Man, I had better make this game a little more difficult.

This game is quite entertaining.  Unfortunately, I am rusty on my bridge building education so I just made struts everywhere.  It looks like a waffle.

"That's a lot of monkeys on one joint."

That's like a joke in the making!

Ah, I loved Bridge Builder. Your game is fun to play, unfortunately right now it's not much of a challenge, as there really is no restrictions. I definately think you should change the game so you can't cross 2 beams without them being connected to eachother. Otherwise, it's pretty easy to just create a beam between almost every dot, and then you've beat the game.

Actually when I played the game, and "Impossibly heavy" was traveling over my bridge it plowed the bridge, so it lost it's connection with the left side 'ground constraint', resulting in the bridge falling and getting smashed by the side of the rocks. Pretty cool to see all those beams go everywhere. Fortunately the words got over, so it counted as a win anyway. Smiley

Good game, but as it is now, it's too easy to beat.

Great game, but yeah, too easy. I just made tons of fans that connected to pretty much every other point on the bridge  :D

Obviously this game is not following true physics as more stuff and crossbeams =/= a good bridge.

Look into bridge design and the ideas behind it.

http://42explore.com/bridge.htm

A lot of the links on that page are dead but it still seems pretty helpful. I just garnered that from some quick googling though, so intensive research will likely be more productive.

Personally I love construction games, and I'm sure a lot of other people do to, so there's merit in working on this a bit more intensively as far as research and implementation of it. Not to imply you haven't been, of course.
