Sometimes, when I play a Game Maker game (.exe or from my own .gmk, it doesn't matter), I get this error.

Now, it's telling me to check the drivers and everything, but I know it won't help.
- I tried once, it didn't work.
- When I restart my computer, sometimes the games actually do work.
- If I get this error once, I will get it forever. No matter how silly the graphics of the game are, I will always get this error (until I restart my computer).

Does somebody know what to do? It's true that my computer isn't really great and can't read big games perfectly, but a small Game Maker game shouldn't be a problem right?  Shrug

What graphics card do you have? Some older cards and built-in chipsets don't support surfaces.

I've no idea. I'm not so handy with those things. How do I find out?

Start > Control Panel > Device Manager > Display Adapters

or

Start > Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Device Manager > Display Adapters

This is assuming you're using Windows.

Hmmm, that is a strange one.
The first few posts on this page have some things you could try

Not sure how much help that'll be though.

EDIT: From looking around on the gmc it seems a lot of people have encountered this. Some say it can be caused when the surfaces drawn are too large to be stored in the RAM. Other say it might be something to do with DirectX. Solutions are pretty vague to be honest. Is dxdiag giving any errors?

Goto your display properties, -> Settings -> Advanced -> Troubleshoot -> and slide the Hardware Acceleration to full
I wanted to try this, but if I want to click on 'Troubleshoot', it says:
"In the current display driver, you can not change the hardware acceleration settings"
So, this isn't gonna work.
I also couldn't find what you said Sakar.

I'm not sure if it's valuable information, but I didn't always had this problem with this computer. And the driversoftware and the computer itself haven't change since then.
