Dunno if this is the right place to put this but,

I've got a lot of free time at the moment. I've finished school for now and i've got a couple weeks of dossing doing nothing. It's sweet, but I need something to keep me creative, don't want to become a slob. Anyone up for making a little something? Side scrolley? I'm a really good pixel artist. No shit. I am. It would be rad if anyone with a bit of music/programming know-how would wanna do a little collabo.

I'm currently coding a vertical scrolling bullet-hell shooter (240x320 blown up to double size or fullscreen).

Got any examples of work?

Pretty damn good. If you're up for some bullet hell with large pixels I'll happily work with you.

I'm currently getting the level editor together.

It's a bit weird because instead of prefab enemies, the map spawns scripts. Those scripts request graphics and collision and can run other pre-written scripts.

Essentially one enemy can transform into another at the whim of the level designer and then spawn enemies when shot or issue orders (scripts) to other enemies.

I'm against powerups because I'm of the mind that the environment should be provide powerups and allow for stronger levels. (After all an element in the environment can be scripted to be a motor that spews player bullets when shot.)

So what I'm saying is... The graphics could be anything.

Ok tbh, I didn't understand a lot of that Epileptic
The only bullet hell kinda game i've played is Nanostray... that kind of thing is out of my comfort zone but I wouldn't mind giving it a go. Am i right in thinking you want to go for something more abstract with shapes and forms as a pose to having little characters n stuff? Have you got any pictures/examples of what you're going for? I'm not good with tech talk dude.

In brief: the monsters can transform and tell other monsters to do stuff when they die.

Characters would be great. Abstract shapes would be pretty boring.

I'll try get a build with some content up tonight after work.

yeah, that's some great art, dude!  and that fat cat game is really cool, haha, lots of fun.  i'd love to see what comes out of this collaboration - it should be pretty rad.
