Arrival is based on Story of Your Life by Ted Chiang, my favorite scifi writer.

It was cool, since I randomly googled him to see if he was up to anything, and saw the movie (which I had not heard of) was out.

It was a fun experience seeing the movie knowing the events ahead of time.

The original story plays with tenses in a way you wouldn't even notice on a first read.

I really enjoyed watching Now You See Me 2. I haven't seen the original so I don't know how it fares next to it, but the sequel is a fun movie with tons of over-the-top magic tricks.
Now You See Me 2 is awesome. Though I still like first movie better.  Smiley

The Witch.
It follows.

Does anyone knows any very similar recent movies to these? Loved The Witch so much, what a great art piece. It Follows was also good. Would love to know if there is anything similar, I could't find anything at the same level.

Oh thank you. Already saw some of the iconic ones. I should've said recent movies, my bad, I'll edit that. Thanks again.

[personal taste]Well, It Follows managed not to be so overly cliché and overly gory and didn't anchor itself in one million jump scares like most I tried to see in recent years, so in my book it was good, it was different enough, and Disasterpeace's OST nailed the deal for me.

The Witch is in another league. Can't find anything even close to it. Still searching.[/personal taste]

Session 9 is a good movie.

For recent movies, i'd recommend you the wailing (the strangers)(2016), not sure but it might be suited to your taste.  and i'd add the piper (2015)   . both are korean movies.

agreed, it was ok. i think my opinion might be tainted by the fact that the main audio channel was fucked up and weirdly muffled so all dialogue sounded like shit. it was very distracting.
