well it's based off a book that was written for children, so of course it's a children's movie

imo one of the movie's main problem is that isn't ENOUGH of a children's movie (as was discussed earlier itt).

Yes, it's like Peter Jackson did not decide which direction to take it. Obviously coming out post trilogy influenced how it turned out.

welp it probably comes down to jackson taking over the project from del toro. ofc this is just speculation but i think del toro would have stuck closer to the tone of the source material.

I watched Battleship again yesterday and I am still not sure if it was a serious movie or a parody. Definitely hilarious either way.

the tension and mood of that film is timeless.

I watched The Master recently, but ultimately it disappointed me in it's ponderousness and needlessly enigmatic cast of characters.

Give me the chicken!!!

For the second, and I vow the last time I watched one hour of In the Name of the King last night with much beer after a great dinner at home.

Oh, is that thing a train wreck.

Just watched Black Swan. Why the CG? The movie was already so up in your face with it's symbolism. I remember liking PI way more than this. Portman stunning as always though.

Watched Heat yesterday, the scene with De Niro and Al Pacino looking at each other in the dark was awesome. Overall a good movie, didn't tire me in the slightest despite lasting over 2,5 hours, great writing.

PI was also written by Aronofsky, instead of just being directed. He should definitely make more of his own movies, PI and The Fountain are two of the best things I saw.

I loved The Master. Joaquin Phoenix was really scary and disturbing in his role, his character was so unpredictable.

Recently saw Bronson. Pretty odd film, but thoroughly entertaining, but the cinematography and music was great. I particularly loved the main character's mannerisms and gestures.

yeah the master was pretty great. i didn't know much about the movie before i saw it and tbh i went in expecting an l ron hubbard biopic w/ the usual "rise and fall" plot. but what i got was something much better.

Watching Holy Motors at the moment. I can understand why it has divided opinion but I'm really enjoying it.

I've been watching Vikings, it's quite enjoyable. Probably 4/5 stars so far, it helps with the wait for Game of Thrones.

The videos on their website alone were enough to get me hooked.

A little while ago, I watched "Paul Williams Still Alive". As soon as I found out he was the writer behind the "Rainbow Connection", I couldn't stop watching and was already quite intrigued with the film because of the approach and by how much it had shown me of Paul Williams as a 70's icon before it informed me of that. Since he is in the film most of the time, the director did a good job of presenting a well formed portrait of the man.
