Is it just me or are the pilots in Pacific Rim inside the mechas after all?

It would seem so. Based off of this new trailer I might actually watch this movie.

Just saw Zero Dark Thirty. The main character is a vindictive bitch and puts lives at stake for the benefit of a hunch. I give this jingoistic propaganda 1/(Faraday's constant).

Sonatine is a really good Yakuza film.
I have like been watching almost exclusively asian cinema lately. I guess it's more fun.

I've been meaning to watch Sonatine.  I've liked the two Takeshi Kitano films I've seen so far (Hana-Bi and his version of Zatoichi)

Manhunter is a great film. Michael Mann is a great director.

Michael Mann is a great director.
How doesn't everybody know that already?
He's the best for sound ambiances.
I liked the miami vice remake better than the original serie

I think everybody knows Mann's the man. Heat's been around for awhile.

Watched another Takeshi "Beat" Kitano film; Kikujiro. The guy seems like a really genuine person and very playful, literally, there are some amazingly fun play scenes both in this film and Sonatine.

Hitchhiking through Japan is something I dream about doing.

I didn't really enjoy kikujiro, but Kitano is great otherwise for mixing different moods and feelings. check out gohatto too.

Nah, it wasn't that good but Kitano's performance was great, he's a real entertainer.

Maybe it was the pot (lots of it), but I thought the story and setting were surprisingly good. Not great, but surprisingly good.
I remember I particularly liked the way Zardoz, killed by Zed at the very beginning, comes back as a recording/AI to somehow instruct Zed, with no recollection of his death. Pity it was only for a while.

Yesterday I watched Altered States with friends. We were disappointed, not particularly funny or interesting, just stupid in a really boring way.
