UpdateBit more collision stuff, so Trix can now hang onto, climb up, etc the top corners of the flower platforms. Ready to make them actually collapse now. An upcoming problem is the case where Trixie's in the middle of something like the hang->climb up animation, and the flower collapses. The sprite during those animations is actually static, and her movement is all built into the animation, like so. I need to know a sort of 'centre of mass' of Trixie in each frame of the animation in order to position her falling sprite correctly when the platform collapses. I might write a simple animation data editor to allow me to place those values in each frame. This would also come in really handy for making a camera system that follows her properly, rather than following her sprite position, which jumps around a bit. (For example, after that climbing animation, the sprite position moves up 12 and across 5 (or thereabouts) so that the idle sprite matches up with the end of the climb anim.) A dramatisation of the situation.

There's no point in a beta until there's a decent amount of playable stuff, and the menu framework and things. But it's good to know you're looking forward to it. Wow, I can't imagine how she could survive this, such a cruel situation Don't worry, she does this every day. She's a pro.

RE: The problems with the camera following Trixie, rather than following the sprite directly you could have the camera only move when Trixie pushes against a certain boundary inside the screen (like Super Mario Bros does it).
So, if your screen resolution is 640x480, for example, you would have an x boundary of, say, 200 horizontal pixels and 150 vertical pixels, and if Trixie moves beyond it, you would move the camera so that Trixy stays inside the box.
This kind of explains it:
EDIT: well, not exactly, but those are two possibilities you might consider to fix your dilemma.

Yeah I'll be doing something like that (I might have linked that video mysel in the early day of the thread ). The position that the camera behaviour is derived from still needs to be consistent though, otherwise when the sprite position jumps past the camera's boundary, it looks a bit dodgy.

It's not really at the moment - I've been spending most of my dev time recently on another game. Trixie's still ticking over in my head though. Thanks for asking - it means a lot to me. In return here's a pic from a while ago of baby Trixie.

I haven't, sorry. Apart from Ludum Dare I've just been doing artwork for another project, and that one has to take priority as it's a team thing.

Did a drawing of Trixie to show I've not forgotten about the game. Sorry for the total lack of progress!
