Beyond the Couch...

...there's a whole world to explore.

This is going to document my attempt at a platformer without gimmicks (overall, anyway). I want to try out new ideas for a level, maybe two. Discard them when they're old, and introduce the player to something new. Platforming for the joy of platforming. That whimsical wonder at what may lie beyond the the next corner.

I hope to capture all this, and more.

Not using gimmicks is a gimmick in itself.

That said, the worm-with-a-nail has already piqued my interest, though I can't imagine that thing being animated since it has flat joints. A strange but static backdrop?

Well... oh well. No gimmicks it still is. As for animating, that worm started off with a different purpose, where those joints would be fine. I'm still trying to figure out how it'll work.

In other news:

Meet Charlie.

That's beautiful. It has a grungy ASCII feel to it, somehow. I confess I'm not sold on the dude, though.

Thank you! And no, I'm not either. He's there until I find someone better, though.

Oh no, double post.

Brief news, I changed the protagonist:

I somewhat stayed with the same character. He really has that "shouldn't be the hero" look that I like. Not completely happy with it, but it's definitely better.
