HUESPACE

Developed by Quintin Stokes.
Music composed by Jack Menhorn.

Huespace is a perspective shooter in which you play as the pilot of a flying saucer. Your mission? Seek and destroy Planet X. To achieve your goal you'll need to blast your way past countless untold dangers and challenging bosses, upgrading your ship and uncovering secrets along the way.

There used to be a demo here, but it was an old version and I'm not releaseing the finished demo until I can release the game.

I got an error about unknown variable Z during the first boss fight.  Sad

Fun game! It's a bit simple, but there's loads of design space to work in.

Oh crap... Lips Sealed

This shouldn't take too long to fix. I'll edit this post once I've removed the glitch.

EDIT: Thought I fixed the glitch but I've only made it worse... Just don't download for now. Grr...

EDIT: NOW I have it fixed.

A piece from the art gallery unlocked upon completing the game. Sure, it's the first boss again, but I don't want to spoil anything.

??

Just kidding, love the visuals. It's all reminiscent of Star Fox 64, actually. Do the scenes where you land on planets have the same visual style as that art? Would be cool to see little comics or whatever.

The planet scenes use the game graphics - you arrive at the planet and your ship simply flys off into the distance.

Also, I forgot to include in the last update that there are new enemies..!

Hey, I played 5-10 minutes so maybe this is not a valuable review for you!

What I liked:
- the graphics
- the music

What I didn't like:
- slow gameplay (come one move that ship around!)
- not enough lives
- finite # of bullets (especially during the boss fight)

I'll try increasing the gameplay speed, but it's inextriciably linked to difficulty.

You have infinite lives, so I can't really understand that. Undecided Too, if you are defeated by a boss you restart just before the fight.

I want to keep the limited bullets, perhaps adjust the starting ammount though. Since the last demo, bosses drop ammo more logically and I've programmed in some upgrades which will help with ammo.

UPDATE
- Almost half of the upgrades are functional.
- New boss added.
- Boss drops ammo as needed vs. randomly.
- Landing music added.
- Other stuff I could sit and remember, but don't want to spend the time.

This is what my next updates few will look like. I'll be working mostly on enemies, bosses, and upgrades for a while.

Changed the scoring today, fixed a few upgrade bugs, other minor tweaks here and there, currently doing extensive boss testing/editing, later I'll add some more sound, hopefully a new boss too, and of course anything else I can fit in bofore the day is through. This won't be done by Friday.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and I would have a demo with the upgrades included but there are currently some unruly issues with the sound programming, causing an error upon exiting the game. Should be fixed soon.

I've been writing things down as sort of a checklist, so today I do know what I've done. This includes yesterday also.

UPDATE
- New boss.
- All bosses adjusted.
- Simulation mode edited.
- Almost all upgrades are functional.
- Some upgrade bugs fixed.
- Other bugs fixed.
- Ammo capacity increased.
- Starting ammo increased.
- Scoring corrected.

Sound issues still aren't solved(and I've created two new ones), so no demo.

Finally, the sound issues are worked out and I have a new demo for you all. It contains a few upgrades and some other things. So...

NEW DEMO!

As for a new release date I don't know. This is not due to laziness however, but an increase of content. Wink

I found it a little slow-going to begin with, and it took me a bit of trial and error to work out what of the things hurtling towards me were and whether they would kill me or help me, but on the whole I liked it.  The graphics style is nice, and that first boss in particular has a slightly Mighty Boosh-esque quality to it.

Today I made another boss, two more upgrades, switched up the controls(both default and alternate), and made quite a few new enemies. Not much. Tonight I'll be starting work on the title screen/menu.
