I think I've solved the problem with the sun, but now it's really scary...

I'm going to do the same thing eigenbom did for his Moonman, because although this project started out as something I would have fun making and playing, it's garnered a small 'fanbase' and I want to make sure most people are happy with how it turns out.

So pick three different ones:

1. Intriguing storyline
2. Weird giant bosses
3. Bullet-hell sequences at certain parts
4. Gameplay focused
5. Strange stuff
6. Scary stuff
7. Spooky stuff
8. Lots of cutscene-type things
9. Design focused (Yes, you can choose both this and gameplay focused)\
10. Things that make you sad/angry/freaked out/disturbed
11. Cute things

I don't know very much about the gameplay yet but I think focusing on gameplay/design is a given. Maybe my expectations are bit high for how ambiguous you've been with this project but it's my opinion that gimmicky things like cuteness and bullet-hell would take away from the atmosphere. You've nailed this "strange" other worldly vibe with the art so far. I'd focus on immersing players in that with tight gameplay(whatever that might be) and clever level design. So all in all, just keep doing what you've been doing.

By gameplay focused, I mean there will be really weird, tight controls and some unexpected movement and/or attack patterns that, so far, I'm pretty sure I've never seen in anything else. Thank you though  Grin

suddenly I realize that 'gameplay focused' and 'design focused' are on the list of things to be potentially cut??

so 1, 4, 9
but only if 1 is a storyline that reacts.
otherwise, 5 all the way.

in conclusion

1+4+9, or 4+9 with 5 on the side if the previous is not possible or likely.
