I would prefer being transported by the train. Like it just flies past a level and your character jumps out. Then when you're done, it flies back in and your character grabs on to it...

Each new level one train drops the player off and another picks him up. They are different trains. The colours of the train could be different, maybe getting progressively longer, more-evil.. Also I have no idea what your game is like, so the concept may not make sense.

Maybe the train gobbles the player up travelling up, and kinda.. poops him out at the beginning of the level.
I do want to see a creepy bus though.
