Basically, in the step event of some object, say the player or whatever: background_x[0]=view_xview[0] //makes a background that follows the camera background_x[1]=view_xview[0]/2 //this gives the parallax scroll effect. You can use different numbers, of course. Larger numbers give the effect that the background is closer, as it moves more slowly. Smaller numbers the opposite. If you want the effect of something in the foreground multiply it by a number instead. Anyways, it's been forever since I've been on TIGSource. Wanted to say that this looks fantastic.

Oh, thank you! This is very very difficult, though. Maybe I'm overthinking it. I may come back to it later, but I've given up for now I'm still doing other things, though!

Whoah, PB, hey! I just got power to my house. I haven't had it since last week, because of the hurricane. Great timing!

Oh my god, the art. I love all of it. Especially the last two screenshots. I think you could brighten the tree thing outside/dim the vase things to give some more impact. Also, maybe have a faint sliver of light along the silouette of the guy?

I think I might show off tidbits of progress with tiny images like these. They're fun!

i played that game so much as a kid, it was brutally hard. if you were off by a pixel when jumping across a river on stones you would lose 1 of your only 3 lives for the entire game. doh!

fraps (worth it!) -> virtualdub, import avi, crop etc., export to "thing.gif" -> " gifsicle -b thing.gif -O6 -k32", optimises and cuts # of colours down

For an easier method, LICEcap directly records gifs. You might have to crop the beginning and end off with a graphics program though. Easier isn't always better.
