If you stare into static long enough your brain starts seeing images. Take what you saw as a starting point. It's a neat exercise. But of course there is no real universal source for inspiration, you just have to find your own, and most of the time inspiration finds you. Looking at other art usually doesn't help either, it just nurtures copycats.

Yeah, I tried finding a better one, but I usually just use a TV with an untuned channel for that effect.

JMickle to the rescue! I shall report back with what i see. Edit: I didn't see anything. This sounds like an odd question, but how am i supposed to stare at it? Am i supposed to lose focus while looking at it or really concentrate on it?

Other than the first one, these links mean nothing to me. They are just art websites, not character design, and studying someone else's art can lead to imitation or copying.

Can, but can also not. Thread title is inspiration, these are things that inspire me.

It's only limiting if you blindly copy. The important thing is to not just copy an artist's style wholesale, but analyze what you find appealing about their work and assimilate some or all of those properties into your own work. On a similar note, master copies can be an excellent method for artists to break out of their own thought process and open their mind to new techniques.

But as I said before, try it in your old analogue TV (people still have these right?) and it works much better.
