Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita
I watched the first few episodes (since I read about the "suicidal loaf of bread" scene on Japanator), but didn't like it much. I love the ending sequence, though. I might watch the whole season, but I'm not sure that will change my opinion about it.

I went on the Internet to find people who agreed with me, but they just said it was smart. I disagree, and it's not like I wanted a "smart" anime (I watched it for the suicidal loaf of bread), but the thing is it was trying to do the "subtle contemporary society critique" thing. It was too obvious and in-your-face, with the heroine in a perpetual snarky inner monologue throughout the show

And it's not like she was saying interesting stuff. She was always like "Ooh, this guy is so greedy" or "Ooh, this girl is so lazy", and all that stuff that was already very obvious to the viewer.

jinrui isn't smart and it doesn't try to be smart. there's no "subtle contemporary society critique". it's just fun and absurd and has a few unique humorous takes on a postapocalyptical society.

but you should totally watch it because it's ridiculously awesome!

I was tricked!
I thought this was going to be a musical about girls driving tanks.

It's not, and apparently it'd very bad.  Cry

Who told you it's bad? It was one of the most popular and highest selling shows last season.

"Top selling" =/= good
My local otaku told me it wasn't what I thought it was.

Of course top selling isn't the same as good, but when a low-budget unknown show made by no one special comes out of nowhere and dominates the season charts I think it's worth paying more attention to than normal rather than writing it off as apparently bad.

But, well, no - it's not what you thought it was. An anime musical is a bit of an unrealistic thought though, you must admit.

Watched the first couple eps of Princess Tutu.  First one didn't convince me at all but something tugged at me to go for the second and I am real glad I did - hooked.

Are there multiple "badass" maids in Black Lagoon? Why do they need more than 1. Why can't the choose between glasses and knifeboot.

Yes, there is Roberta, who has glasses, and (one more), um... *shuffles nervously* ... I think her name is "the other one", or perhaps it was "Roberta-Lite".

"Dutch, I know what I want for Christmas."

Also, Black Lagoon is awesome.

this series thrives on being over the top and gratuitous

this rule applies to its stance on murderous brazilian maids/ex war criminals
