So I guess I'm pretty alone with this but OPM is kinda boring. It pushes all the Shonen fanboy buttons but doesn't bring anything new to the table. Maybe next season will be better (didn read the manga).
Imo, Boku no Hero Academia is the better hero anime of this season.

I agree too. Thankfully my fiance looks at even more inappropriate shit so I don't needed to feel like a weirdo when I watched the video about what basically are anime hipsters.

Like the inappropriate angle is understanding and trust me I'm in that camp too. It's also just cliched and tired as hell at this point to, it accounts for like at least half of anime videos on youtube.

Could someone please suggest something similar to one of these: Cowboy Bebop, BECK: Mongolian chop squad, Great Teacher Onizuka, Darker than black, Psycho Pass, Full Metal Alchemist?
Some quick suggestions: Black Lagoon, Code Geass, Death Note, Hellsing/Hellsing Ultimate, Monster, Berserk, Paranoia Agent, Trigun, Vampire Hunter D R2, Ninja Scroll (standalone not series), Basilisk. Enjoy. EDIT: Missed the bit about 100+ titles seen, so you've probably seen most of these. Hopefully there are still a few that you haven't yet seen. Failing that, you could always re-watch the classics. Watched most of them except for Paranoia Agent. Gotta check it out, thanks! I'm interested in something more or less real-life-based. Like GTO. I don't know what is that about GTO... Some kind of combination of sitcom with really well-written plot, likeable characters, comedy combined with drama. But anime's ending is quite stupid. Manga's is much better IMO.

Not a problem. Paranoia Agent is one of the odd ones out on the list I gave, which means it might stray too far from the other anime you listed. Hopefully it is close enough to still be of interest though.

Paranoia Agent can be a slightly acquired taste, but if you enjoy it, make sure to check out all other works by Satoshi Kon.
Shigurui features virtually no fantastic elements, aside from perhaps more durable humans. Its basically about rival samurais and the tale of how they got to their final duel. Its incredibly dark and apparently features a lot of historically accurate elements. Havent finished the anime yet, but the manga ends super grim.

In an unrelated note, can anyone recommend a manga in the vein of Monster? I want to read a some down to earth drama/thriller.

Similar to Monster? Hm...The only thing I could think of is PsychoPass, but it's not that realistic. Yeah, actually, I'd like to find something similar too.

You might like Erased - modern thriller with minor fantasy elements.

Im watching Perfect Insider (Subete ga F ni Naru) right now, and despite the *absolutely terrible* opening intro, its totally got that Monster vibe to it.

fair enough but its not like he is the only mangaka who can make a down to earth thriller. and its not like the bulk of his work is thrillers anyway
