So I've been working on a game for the past few months that was originally called Spuck, which was sort of a portmanteau of Speed and Puck. Since the game was originally about a metal disc, the name made perfect sense... However, now we've changed the disc to a viscous glob of green goo. I thought it would be funny, edgy, and tongue-in-cheek to call the game Spunk... But is this too risque? Will people who aren't amused with my sense of humor find the name to be in poor taste or downright offensive? Please weigh in with your thoughts!

I don't think Spunk would go over well; it's not exactly going to make the best first impression. However, Spuck doesn't work too well either.

Spuck. usually people will think the vulgar term first, and spirit only if you clarify it, like how gay is being misinterpret sometime.

I've never heard of the vulgar version of spunk, and it is possible that I've used spunk in the spirit way without clarifying in the past.
Should I be embarrassed?

Nah, context is a wonderful thing. Be careful about saying it around teens, though.

To my knowledge "Glob" hasn't been used yet so call it that because that's what the green thing looks like and it also lets you avoid any double entendres.

I've never heard the vulgar term for spunk, and I usually use it in the traditional sense.
I would name your game
"Guu"
I don't like spuck or spunk.

I actually like this idea a lot... Dan (the artist's) girlfriend suggested adding a female character to make it "cuter" and more approachable for female gamers. But I wouldn't want to cast her as the typical "damsel in distress" because it's an overly used trope and somewhat sexist. If anything, I'd make her an alternate playable character, though the only problem with that is that players might expect there to be gameplay differences between the two characters... Hmm... It would be awesome to have a pink version of the player character with eyelashes and a cute little purple bow though :3

Like Miss 'Splosion Man? Just make an alternate pink version - it doesn't need to have eyelashes and a bow or poop rainbows and unicorns...and... magic for girls to like it Or if you're going to do eyelashes and a bow anyway - I expect you to go the whole 9 yards and have it crapping magic and ponies so I can at least enjoy the irony. What about Loogie?
