Love the look of it. The character animations are awesome, the melee attacks feel really brutal. You're doing a great job!

Boring game, tons of talent.
Would be very interested in seeing what you do with an original idea.

Lots of new Zombox updates this week!

Here's a sample of the changes:

-broken bridges, dead end streets and building fences added to the environment.
-lots of new items added to the world, including rotten/fresh food items, ripped/clean clothing items. The stats of each item is dependent on its quality. A rotten apple, for example, will not replenish as much HP as a fresh one. The game now features over 650 unique items to find and purchase.
-eating/drinking functionality has been added to the inventory panel, and animations corresponding to each action are triggered when you feed your character
-stats are displayed in numeric form in the inventory window
-an HP bar pops up momentarily for anything (props or zombies) damaged in the world, so you can see how many hit points it has left
-the main character now gets bloody when injured.

Here are some images and an animated .gif showing these new features:

There's just something inherently comedic about a stubby little guy running around with a big sledgehammer smashing stubby little zombies. Love it! Hand Thumbs Up Left

This looks awesome. Really awesome. I don't know why people are so offended by "another zombie game," even when it's good.

The animations are fantastic, really enjoyable to watch and the gameplay seems fluent and fun. It would be really cool if you varied the enemies beyond zombies making a whole mess of monsters like werewolves, creations, demons, slimes, ect.

Please finish this,

Thanks guys!

As for enemy variety....there will eventually be zombie animals, hostile NPCs, zombies will various attacks (for example, some might puke and leave a deadly trail of vomit you'll want to avoid, etc). I don't think I'm going to go in the route of other monster types like werewolves and slimes, though, since the focus is still a zombie apocalypse.

I don't think having zombies necessitates that the game is "bad" game in any way.  Shrug
It's just a visual concept. An overused one, yes, but oh well.
Just don't let the zombie theme inhibit you from making interesting AI.

And by the way, this game has an excellent art direction. I think it works well--you do a good job of making the blocky characters an artistic decision rather than a compromise.

"Herpy-derpy" is the exact aesthetic I'm aiming for, so this is the best compliment I could get Smiley

The zombie AI is getting re-written this week as we speak. The new AI will be sense-based, with zombies reacting to sight and sound, rather than having an omniscient knowledge of the player's whereabouts...among other things Smiley

Exactly this. If you told me the name of the game, I'd think "Zombies and Voxels... meh." because both are being overused by every mediocre cash-grabbing game dev in the world right now. But saying that anything with zombies or voxels have to be bad is like saying that one bad red painting taints the color red.

You may be facing an uphill battle with convincing cynical gamers to even look at your game though, sadly.

That sounds awesome.  Hand Thumbs Up Left

So aside from music, is this all done by you? That's rather impressive if so.

Yup! One man show, so far Smiley

My first attempt at making a game as well. There was a steep learning curve, but overall it's been a lot of fun.

Yea, I've been working as an animator for about 7 years...just hadn't dabbled in game design. Now I feel like I missed out on so much, since I didn't start earlier!

This explains why your animations are so professional looking.

They were done by a professional.
