As for "just fucking awful", I'll remark that going there, one finds a pretty positive network of people. What's more, even if everyone in that room is a total ass, we're just one small subgroup of a much larger global community, which I think is great regardless. So mind your generalizing.

I think there's bound to be some pretentiousness and clique culture in a group as niche as indie game development. I'd be lying if I say I didn't see some of that at TIGJam, but that can also be attributed to how well some of these people know each other vs a lot of new people (like me), but overall everyone was pretty open and welcoming.

No shit, but in this case it does. I mean, there were some wonderful people at TIGJam; they are all brilliant spirits as far as I'm concerned. Talented, creative, fun, etc. And who is this guy criticizing them without even knowing these people? Judging them solely based on their pictures? Who is this guy? He has no portfolio to speak of, no talent, intelligence, or worth to show for himself. He's just another unoriginal hater taking shots from the sideline because he's not part of something awesome.
The quote was totally appropriate in this case.
