We have released a major new update to Gang Garrison 2, our Team Fortress 2 demake which started its life more than three years ago in these forums. Version 2.4 is the latest big update, (predictably) succeeding Version 2.3 which was released about six months ago.

This time, we added a new game mode again (Dual King of the Hill), which features two control points to squabble over. To win, a team must hold both points and defend them for a certain time. Additionally, the Generator game mode was revised to make cooperation more important.
On the technical side, the mechanism for downloading custom, user-created maps has been changed. Custom maps, which are stored as PNG images with embedded level data, previously had to be uploaded to e.g. an image hosting site to make them available to players. Now, they are downloaded directly from the game server, which eliminates all extra work.
We also completely rewrote our Lobby Server software to improve support for game mods. Servers can now provide structured information about the game they are hosting. This way, the server list can now show which game or mod a server is hosting, and can even send the player to a relevant website where he can find more information and download the mod.
