Working on a little 2.5D game for web- kongregate maybe? not really though about where to release it yet.  Its some form of sidescroller where you're going to be avoiding flak and gunfire before deploying paratroopers at the objective.

Demo Version here:

Haha, I'm gonna take that as a compliment.

Got in a bit of work on this today, not as much as I'd like but isn't that always the case.

  • Replaced plane with helicopter(From opengameart.org its awesome!)
  • Moved player to the middle of screen to allow players move freedom of movement
  • Modified movement and rotation speed of helicopter
  • Tweaked camera filters a lot
  • Same level layout complete, just need to create the assets/gameplay to match

Was at the launch for Battlefield 3 here in Dublin last night- was an awesome event and afterwards met up with some fellow developers!

The downside of all this is that I wasn't very focused today...

  • Tested colour filters- orange looks cool to me
  • Sorted out some basic movement issues, still something messed up in my slerping though
  • Started work on adding drop zones for troops to leave/be collected

Yeah, orange looks good - and the helicopter looks much better. Maybe have different colors for a time of day type cycle, orange being towards the sundown end of the scale?

Why don't you try lowering the saturation the orange scene and go for a sepia look and feel? Might be worth a shot.

@grayfox: Yeah, that sounds like a really cool idea. Might take me a while to fiure out how to do it though, I'm a bit of a Unity noob!

@xoorath:  I tried going for a sepia look earlier but it just didn't feel right, so I've reverted to an organgy, for now its a surreal look as but I'll get around to tweaking it once I've some more gameplay done!

  • Added some buildings
  • Added terrain
  • Tweaked colour filters
  • Added search light to helicopter
  • Tried some control options, none felt right so leaving it at just mouse for now
  • Began work on collection/drop off mechanic

Added a webplayer demo to the top of the post, you can find it here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/12045597/DemoScene2/DemoScene2.html

  • Got pick-up/drop-off working in a basic way
  • Added some basic UI
  • Added health
  • Added enemy ships shooting at you
  • Added game reset in the event of win/loss
  • Very basic level design
  • Added some snazzy particle effects so you know when you get shot
