I gave in to .mp3 format T_T Goddamn it, flash. At least I managed to get the looping to feel seamless... on my computer. Netbook testing now.


I'm starting up a second Sound almost exactly half a second before the first Sound stops. It seems perfect on my computer. Now, it is a touch funny on my netbook... but... it's pretty close.

Why didn't I try the easy way first? T___T (stupid mp3)


btw:: that enemy totally causes a debuff. it's great.
also:: on the right is two individual enemies, not one with feet.

musings about redoing dynamic music:

1. "GLORY"
chords play more powerfully when you're doing well. drums will follow, but as backup.

2. "DANGER"
sirens play whenever danger is imminent. bosses automatically trigger this!, but so does:
taking damage
having very little health
having 0 stars? maybe a little.

3. "TENSION"
drums play heavily when things become strenuous
i.e. lots of enemies on screen, lots of enemies killed recently.

4. "NOISE"
when should bass play? perhaps all the time; perhaps only when "PRESSURE" is present?
when nothing is happening, should the bass fade out? should chords still linger?

i think chords should always be playing except when drowned out by drums.

bass should play loudest when it is playing alone?


edit: IT'S OFFICIAL! JMickle is granting me some gently updated music. Lovely.

I almost got to my super tier that run... EDIT: Actually, it's a pretty good story. I just got SUPER PUNCH and killed a Drill boss with it! Very exciting! And then, flying too close to the bottom of the screen, I punched a BoomCreep and... and... and fell to my death because it blew up every platform near and underneath me. The saddest day.

Minor tweaks all 'round. There's just no stopping when it comes to messing with P0... why did I start making a whole new tier of enemies, again? o_0

As long as I follow through with my current plan, there will most definitely be updates in P0's future.

 ~

1. All bosses tweaked. Most of them have had their health reduced... I'm not sure if it was the right choice, but given their greatly increased danger level it seemed reasonable. Also I changed many movement and attack patterns to make them, hopefully, more fun. I tested out making bosses on-screen cause the screen to slow but instead just made them all fall-off-screen-proof. Seriously: it probably won't happen any more, ever. Now every spawned boss is there to stay. Kill them or be killed. Ultimatum.

2. Music is awesome. It feels a lot more tied to your actions; I don't know if it feels too close, but I don't think so. When you get killing a lot of enemies, the music pumps up. When you get hit, the music gets harsher (louder drums and muted melody). Feels combo-y. Obviously, killing a boss nets you a big musical rush. I've reverted to the original mp3s from the first P0 for now.

3. Uhhhhhhh I should probably do some work on Starseed Pilgrim too. I swear I have been, just not quite so religiously. I feel like the game is complete but for endgame and music, but I could probably find a lot to add to it if I'd just look (as I have been to no end with Probability 0; jeez). I should tie the whole game together more fully and add more details here and there. It is tough, I'll admit, to tie damn near everything to player action.



I should make tutorials for both of them! Damn those new players, not ready to know everything immediately.

I sat down and pumped out some text for Starseed Pilgrim. There will be a bunch of text.

In other news, I have not progressed very much on either game but I have been playing lots of Hanano.

Work continues.

I'm pretty sure Starseed Pilgrim's thing was the pomes, not the proses!
I buckled and finally got a PS3 and all the games I wanted for it (there are... um... two; maybe three but if three then I can't say I got all the games I wanted for it).

Anyway, the first guiding piece of advice you'll see in Starseed Pilgrim upon completing the short little tutorial/opening sequence...

Gain from loss
one does not measure
but broken hearts yield
starseed treasures.

(the per-line rhythm is a bit off.)
