I'll be spending the next week making a game. If you have any suggestions or feedback please be sure to let me know.  Gentleman

Here is the first concept image

Can you tell what it is?  Tongue

I've made the image for the "shrine"

The game will have day/night cycles and every week a colossus will show up at your village. The player must place resources as an offering in the shrine to keep the colossus happy. Otherwise he will destroy one of the villages structures.

I'll probably also make it so that when the colossus is happy he blesses the town with a temporary resource production bonus.

I've made the image for the towns forge.

I seem to be having trouble with style consistency.

Made some changes to the shrine so that it blended better with the forge

Heres an updated concept image.

The final version will have more little platforms with random trees/grass and other objects to add to the ambience. There will also be layers of larger clouds in the background to give it a mystical foggy feel.

Is this like the town of your rpg, or does all the gameplay take place here?

This is mainly just an overview screen. The actual gameplay will take place within each of the structures. The Mine, Mill and Farm will each have it's own minigame that simulates the gathering of a resource. The player can then either buy and sell the resources for gold at the market or use them to craft items and equipment at the forge. Another of the overview screens features will be a path that leads off the side of the screen with a sign. Selecting this will cause the player to enter a random battle based on their level.

As you can see I still have a lot of stuff to work out but this project was just intended as a way for me to practice with making pixel art and programming simple rpg mechanics. It's just a way for me to have fun without spending months on a larger project.

Thats the benefit of using such a simplistic style. Wink

I'm not looking forward to finishing up the mountains though... That will take awhile.

Not just that the art is nice but the gameplay sounds good as well, can't wait to see more progress. Keep it going Smiley

Heh, yeah. As long as I can get the basic gameplay down I'll consider it as a success.  Shrug

Thats done for now. With the scrolling clouds going in between the peaks it looks pretty awesome. I'll add a video once I get more of the gameplay finished.

I'll probably keep going back and adding more little details as I think of them but for now I'm going to focus on finishing the actual game.

This is gonna to be a busy weekend.  Tired
