Hey everybody, just curious. What are you personal top 5 favorite indie games? And why are they your favorites?
Here are mine in no order: mono by binary zoo - brand new idea i've never seen before. customizable music. good action. no levels, just beat your previous scores seizuredome by cactus - i like this basically for the same reasons i like mono but this game's graphic style and music are the best i've seen so far. endless fire by code space - kinda like the kento cho shooters i like but for some reason i like it more. punishment by messhoff - unique ideas. most punishing game i've played. i imagine it will feel really good to beat it. doubt i will ever do that, but its fun to try. warning forever by hikoza - i remember browsing gamehippo.com one day at school and i found this. a few years later and i'm still playing it. one of the best games ever made. another game i'm terrible at but still enjoy playing.
honorable mentions: anything kenta cho makes xwung by cactus echoes by binary zoo ablation by nenad N - wasted a lot of time in school with this one
games i wish i liked - highly rated games that i just don't get: dwarf fortress - even with wiki tutorials i can't get started cave story - played it and i dont see the appeal knytt - kinda boring for me
So what are you favorites and why?

Rock Band- One of the best music/party games (I'm on Vocals Expert, for the record. ) The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker- I'm a sucker for cel-shading and sailing, especially together. Look at those waves! So prettiful. Grim Fandango- Best adventure game. Ever. Cave Story- It would probably make more nostalgic if I had actually grown up with an NES, but oh well. Rayman 2: The Great Escape- The very first game to show me how beautiful games could be, and my favorite platformer. I had to play it on a PC (this was before my family could afford a game console), but my cramped fingers loved it all the same.

Guitar Hero - as referenced above, an amazing party game. of course, if i'd spent half the time learning how to play guitar instead...
Shadow of the Colossus - only bosses...brilliant.
Diablo 2 - perfecting a completely mundane game mechanic (get more stuff). torturously addictive - a guilty pleasure.
EVE online - never got into it for more than a month - but wow. Deep, cerebral, and blowing stuff up in space. Also, they friggin hired an economist PhD to run their game.
Contra HardCorps - months of fun trying to get all of the endings with a buddy. including the secret monkey princess ending that we found accidentally.

Didn't we have an annual thingy about this time last year to get the communities top 20 games? Might be worth digging it out again Not sure what my top five are. Probably Final Fantasy VII, Silent Hill 2, Metal Gear Solid, Cave Story and Baldur's Gate II, in no particular order.

Isn't he asking what our favourite indie games are? Either that, or he doesn't like commercial games at all! Mine are most probably: Knytt by Nifflas - I just found it really refreshing at the time. Within A Deep Forest had nicer gameplay ideas, but Knytt was more enjoyable to me. Warning Forever by Hikoza - Kind of the pinnacle of indie shmups. I went to a games exhibition in London once, and among all of the old and obscure games, they had a copy of Warning Forever running! Audiosurf by Dylan Fitterer - It had to be said. I still play it now and again, when someone beats one of my scores. I enjoy the adrenal thrill of Ninja Mono on an intense song. Torus Trooper by Kenta Cho - Probably the most-played of Kenta's games for me. PixelShips by Pixelmusement - I still love the 'Pokémon meets Scramble' concept, and I could still sink a lot of time into this. Nothing particularly unusual there.. I'm so mainstream! isn't on there simply because I haven't played it in any great depth. Every Extend should probably be on there, too, but just got edged out. And I'm still training for Dwarf Fortress. I think in about a week or two I'll be certified to play it!
