I think the demo threw me off, the base game is no where near as linear. Several times I've found myself lost & not knowing where to go next, but that's a good thing. Really loving the atmospheric music.
Was anything from the base game used in the demo? I feel like I've played the entire water area before.

The demo used assets like art & enemies from the main game, but the level designs are completely different Thanks a lot for the compliments, if you get seriously stuck be sure to check the Steam community hub, there are lots of tips there.

very very well done! i'm loving the game so far. i'm usually not a fan of backtracking but here, it is cleverly done so i have no problem with it the only minor gripe i have is, sometimes i have trouble determining what is background and what is foreground; and that can be a bit annoying when i get stuck on a wall and i didnt think it was a wall. i never had this sensation in the demo. i think it comes down to the choice of color where some are maybe to bright and feel like foreground. if you dont see what i mean i'll try to post some screenshots. but other than that, nice polish, great atmosphere, and a very enjoyable game

Tried the game today. It's pretty damn fantastic.
The sense of knowing where to go, just by following your nose, without anyone telling you is for me what made the metroid games so great. Taking unnecessary pathways is mostly avoided by making them unaccesable in some way and backtracking provides new challenges and doesn't feel tedious. That might seem obvious, but a lot of metroidvanias are getting this so wrong.
I'm just 1 1/2 hours in, so i didn't see a lot yet. The third boss (the one with the laser beam) has some really intersting patterns and is well done. Music + atmosphere are great also of course.

Fair point; it's mostly because of the very limited palette, but I could definitely have done more to prevent that. If there're some places that you felt were especially confusing, do tell me Thank you for the positive comments! I'm glad that you've enjoyed the game. Going to push out some more updates soonish.
