if one could have a little physics when passing corners game could really be something: very good visually , the vibe is there !  Wink

Crashes on normal mode, runs fine on safe mode. Really cool stuff! I love how the lines converge together to make bright, thick points. Really looks like a Vectrex, it's the little things that count! Beer!

I tested it on a 32-bit Vista machine with a GForce 6800 XT graphics card.

seems that if i say Cancel at the visual studio redist installation the game copy only half the files required to run, can't you make the redist stuff as optional during the installation? thanks

'just made a new installer, without the VC Redist. You don't need them anymore.
See the link above.

Thanks for you feedback, all of you ! This is pretty much appreciated.  Grin

Works like a charm on XP SP3 with 9600GT and using onboard Realtek sound! Runs extremely smooth. Amazing job, I love it!

Both versions crash for me, nothing in the log. Sad

XP SP3, AMD 2000+, GeForce 7600GS (AGP ver.)

It's a pretty borked XP install though, I really need to format, but it'll be a huge job, lots of stuff to back up :/

Thx for the feedback !

It is supposed to run on a 7600, both versions.
Did you tried to update your graphic drivers recently?
The latest drivers for the series 7 are really stable ones and less buggy (in my own experience).

For a desktop :
http://us.download.nvidia.com/Windows/175.19/175.19_geforce_winxp_32bit_english_whql.exe

And for a laptop :
http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/drivers/xp/177.83

(if u're not familiar with the modded drivers, for a geforce-equiped laptop, u'll need a modded driver. Just download the driver AND the INF modded file. Just toss the modded file into the driver setup freshly extracted, it should work).

'hope it will help Smiley

Geforce 8600M GT
Windows Vista

Both modes won't even open, they just instantly crash and close.
Also no log file

Heh.

I have a 9700 as well, I think. I only get a flat shaded version (almost looks like the context of a render target... before a shader has been applied?), but it works otherwise!

Works great on dual HD2900XT, XP. It does freeze however when I've finished the final lap.

<helpful advice>
Thanks for the advice! I hadn't updated my drivers in a long time. It still doesn't work, but I have a lot of mysterious crashes on this machine, so I'm fairly certain it's something wrong with my end. I'm planning a nice healthy format and fresh XP install soon, so hopefully I'll get to play this after all Smiley

Thx pals !

shinygerbil Do you have a freshly installed DirectX as well ? Some old release of DirectX9 can prove instable with this engine Smiley

PHeMoX Actually, it freezes because the end of the game is not implemented yet. I'm striving to finish it bfore the deadline Smiley

Bezzy Sounds strange, may be you get the normal buffer ? Do you mind posting a screenshot here? :p

Okok, time to finish this thing ! Good luck to everybody !

The GL2 mode with a GeForce7600 Go and laptop drivers that you linked starts, but it's unplayable. Really slow.
Is there anything I should look for in the debug file?

The safe mode works great though... and that music is so awesome. Kiss

New demo online !!!

Here's the second demo of this VipeUt demake.
Should run on a PC, WinXP or Vista, with a rather recent 3D card.

During the install, u'll be prompted to deploy OpenAL. Please install it, unless you already have it, otherwise, the demo won't probably start.

The installer creates two shortcuts on the desktop, one using the full featured renderer (OpenGL 2.0), the other one using a more consusual rendering method, not as pretty but fairly ok.

To download the demo, click on the link below :
http://astrofra.com/niji/VipeUt-install.zip

Please unzip the file in a directory. It contains both the installer and the runtimes needed.

Controls : use the arrow keys. Up = accelerate, Left & Right to strafe, Down = brake. The paddle was temporarilly disabled.

The race will go for 6 laps, then the game will freeze. The end of game is not implemented yet. You might catch some bonus on the track. "Missiles" and "Quake" are not implemented yet, "Autopilot" is.

The ship have a certain amount of energy, that decreases when colliding against enemies. Then it blows up Smiley

Press ESC to quit the demo.

This game not finished yet. I might refine the track, anyway, Enjoy !!!   Gentleman
