Sorry about the real slow reply guys, just about to move house so its mental at the moment. Here is a little bit of video [VERY WIP!!!] of some of the stuff we are working on [water effects currently for me!], I don't think its quite there yet but I thought id record the game before the move just in case the internet is down for awhile at the new place, talk in a few days! Music by Craig Stern from the original UTG, and hopefully he reads this because Id love to collab on this again with him.... Next up the tiles need a bit of love, going to be adding props and such to the walkable layer to match the concept a little better, oh and more particles, tons more particles.

I thought it would be hard to achieve the same mood in a ocean scene, but you managed to pull it off. (loving the background hard)

So just got internet back, got a bit done while the internet was turned off though, day/ night cycles, cave tilesets, rain and storms, I'll do a video in a few days to show off the first parts of the new building system, but for now here is some screenshots of some of the updates... Not overly impressive but was quite a bit of work to get it to play nice, also is a bit of a change from the first game. So a bit extra while im typing, the first little working demo we are aiming for will have the following in it: -Lumber a tree (much like the original with a axe) -Pull leaves off and dry them in the sun (get to this later) -Scavenge some stone -Fashion a stick from the lumbered wood, combine it with the sharp stone scavenged to build a spear. -Find some worms and lure some fish out with the worms. -Spear the fish. -Construct a fire with flint + dried leaves and wood. -Cook the fish over the fire. Hopefully we can achieve this level of depth, that's the plan.

Well, guess I better go wipe this drool off the keyboard. So pretty <3 I assume there's some awesome parallax scrolling going on with those hills?

That day/night cycle is looking beautiful, great job And the goal for the first demo release sounds really ambitious. Can't wait to try it out.

Yea shes all 3d now so ill be making the most of background objects and stuff like that, I haven't really stretched the visuals too much yet, we are just getting all the functional stuff in first I guess. I don't want the "look" to stray too much away from the tileset look of the original though, I think that while just using giant 3d models for levels or a combination of smaller ones would be much prettier (pretty much what all modern games do), it may kill some of the functionality that tilesets bring to a game, even if it is 3d.

Lamest update ever, I have been goofing around with several logo changes, I kinda like this one because it has parts of the original under the garden logo in it, but looks kinda nice at the same time, what you guys think? Ill probably put some screen grabs up later today of some of the new trees and such.

Spent some time rejigging the lighting to match the original game a little more, I cant decide if its better or worse though, it may be a little to blue flooded for the game, but then the original was pretty blue also, and it kinda ties in with the ocean thing, what you guys think? Ill probably tinker with the light setup a little more see if I can find a balance.

The blue makes it feel more icy/dead than watery. Maybe try making it darker?
