Lovely art, but so many highly contrasted patterns! I hope this scene doesn't scroll too fast. The color scheme is awesome though, something about this orange/pink/purple combination just works.

I've been working on polishing the first 6 levels of the game for the Flash Game Licence pre-review. Things are coming along at a nice pace at this point. Here's another Screenshot:

... This looks superb. The variation in levels (based on the trailer) seemed to be just right. I think each area changed up the strategy a bit and totally highlighted what looks fun about the combat. The colors also felt just right. Can't wait to play it! Good luck with the licensing.

Progress is coming along at a good clip at this point. I might have at least rough versions of all the levels by the end of the week, and after that it's just story scenes, fixes and polish. Have a screen of the cave section:

Whew, progress is coming along nicely. The level design is pretty much done (except for the final level, where the layout is complete, but I've still got to do most of the tile-work). Most of my work now is polish, a few story elements, and tweaking the final boss fight. Then, of course, there's the sponsorship process.

Venusian Vengeance got on Indiegame's screenshot saturday roundup. Figured I might as well post the screenshot here as well. It's from one of the boss battles fairly late in the game.

A little update:
The sponsorship process has been pretty slow going. Got one low-ball bid which I let expire.
If the game doesn't get a sponsorship, I'll probably look into expanding the game a bit so that I can sell it through digital distribution. I worked too long on this game to release it free without a sponsorship, and it's large and polished enough that I think it's worth trying to sell. I'd still prefer to go with the sponsorship path, both because it would be less risky, and because it would mean the game could be free to play, but there's a possibility that that won't happen.

Another Update:
Venusian Vengeance is coming out of release purgatory and is currently set to come out as a Digital Distribution title in mid-October. I'll be spending the intervening time adding to the game and polishing it so that it's ready to be sold. There should be pre-orders soon at a reduced price.
