I actually was going to ask about this...are pallette swaps doable? you know, like in the old fighting games like street fighter. With the current engine, not really. It would be the equivalent of adding an entirely new set of sprites.

I'm not sure how we could balance the missile launcher, and still make it a distinct attack. Quote's already got a few forward-firing projectiles, so adding another might get redundant. (In Cave Story, the Missile Launcher's only unique feature was that it had limited ammo, which wouldn't work very well in a fighting game) What if he fired it in front of him and it made a small explosion?

Instead of studying for my Public law exam like i should, i did something far more productive...hope you guys like it. The gun need polishing, so if anyone wants to, that would be great. NOW, im really NOT going to do more stuff...no. really...okay maybe. Edit: Its like all the "gun attacks" together, normal, rapid fire, and hardcore

Awesome sprites, Oracle. If you don't mind some crits though:
That flashing shadow on the pants is buggin' me something fierce.
the kickback on the gun should be a bit more than just leaning back a bit, you know? maybe some actual kick of the gun so it aims up for a bit. Not for too long, maybe like horizontal -> 45 -> 15 - horizontal. just like 3 frames quicklike, you know? Maybe even have it so in the first frame the front of Quote lights up yellow with some muzzleflash?
I totally want to edit but, time. I have none of it.

Same here man, id prolly spend way more time polishing it and all, but i already squeezed that animation to half decent (not even, since the gun is hideous), and i cant spend anymore. Tho, some of those details just pass un-noticed in-game, and worst case scenario, we could edit them later, all in all, its better than no graphics at all.

One thing though.. I know Quote is a character based on shooting and all that...
But don't you guys think he has a tid bit too many ranged attacks for a game like this?

I don't think it will be a problem unless the bullets fire insanely fast and are super powerful. I think they should deal about half the damage that a regular characters punch does. Also if the levels turn out to be anything like the test level then they won't be that flat, so landing a hit might not be easy as cake
