I was wondering if anyone could recommend web-based (I guess cloud-based is now the preferred terminology) solutions for collaborative game development. Somewhere team members can upload and receive the latest versions of the scripts and art assets, project files, etc., and discuss problems, progress and solutions.

Any and all pertinent suggestions will be well appreciated, thanks!

Hello,

I've used Teambox with a project, currently I'm using Wunderkit.

Wunderkit is more simple and elegant while Teambox offers more features.

We exchange files mostly via Dropbox. Everyone should have Dropbox. It's awesome.

Cheers,
Moritz

Hey, thnx for the suggestions! Do either Teambox or Wunderkit allow you to store/retrieve/files (I've seen no mention of this functionality on their websites) or would we have to use Dropbox additionally?

Wunderkit puts its focus on very simple task assignment, while in Teambox you can attach images, documents, movies and music up to 150 MB in size.
Frankly, I don't know how much overall storage there is - but with a well-organized folder structure and documentation* there is no problem with referring to the right places in the Dropbox after uploading your progress, and Dropbox integrates very neatly into both Windows and OS X.

Should've mentioned that I can host on my server.

I checked out project pier, it seemed suitable, except for that its wikis were rubbish. Redmine and trac seem like projects unto themselves. Ultimately didn't care for Wunderkit or Teambox. Dropbox, also meh.

In the end I'll be using a phpbb installation (it's basically a one-click set-up from my cpanel). There will be a forum that serves as a script repository.  Each thread representing a script will link to a google doc whose share settings allow anyone w/ the link to edit it. Users will also be able to upload files on the forum, w/ each post obviating that its iteration is more recent than the one before.

Thanx for the suggestions, they helped even though I went a different route.
