Ha, just noticed this. Is there some way to put this on a watchlist? RSS or something?

Actually, I think you might go as far as stuffing equipment selection, skills selection and crafting all withing a single screen.

You can be very clever and tailor your UI design to hav all of those displayed on one screen (instead of multiple, separated ones).

After all, DD is all about fast paced dungeon crawling action, so I think for players to be able to change everything about a given hero within a single UI screen would greatly enhance the game's flow (less clicking UI buttons, more action).

Also, changing stuff around and redesigning the same aspect of an in-development game is fine! That's why a lot of devs (especially indies) often times opt to only use programmer/placeholder art up to the very final stages of the process.

You're doing a pretty good job man, keep rollin' Wink

Thank you Smiley That's very motivating. I'll probably put the crafting in the equipment screen, as it was there in the previous build.

Day 299
* Re-implemented most of equipment screen
* Received 2 new music tracks from Nathan

I want this done so that I can release a new build already!

Refactoring the equipment screen (which is what I didn't do last night) is taking a lot longer. Currently you can view each character's currently equipped items and change weapon but not anything else. It shouldn't take long to fix it up tomorrow but I'm super sleepy right now so I can't finish it.

In better news, the equipment selection screen now has 207% more woosh! The items all slide around nicely now. I'll add in descriptions there as well.

1-2 Day Plan:
* Finish up equipment screen
* Tweak cutscenes with art
* Add new music
* Add as many new sound effects/levels as I can with time left in a day
* Send out new build

Thanks! I'm still working on implementing the equipment right now. It's a bit more complicated than expected. I've got changing weapon and skill in so far.

This game is getting better by the minute. But those spells and items aren't very appealing, especially compared to all the other awesome pixelart.
The biggest problem is the banding and the bothering jagged outlines on the items.

Maybe the items would look better on a darker background? I like the design though.

The items did used to be on darker backgrounds. I might see if Chris would like to anti-alias the edges so that they match backgrounds better. Thanks for pointing it out.

Yes I really like the design of the items and skills themselves as well.

I like them as they are.  Shrug the yellow color background is wrong IMHO though.

Yes it's wrong. It's placeholder and it's got too many colours to match the other pixel art that's in there.

Day 301
* Finishing fixing up Equipment screen
* Added item/skill names and descriptions
* Implemented more images in cutscenes

So as it stands there's some cutscene stuff, and some sequential levels to play, and some stuff to unlock.

Tomorrow: Tackle long list of minor bug fixes and then things should be pretty playable.

Glad to hear that you're enjoying it! Smiley Email is preferred as it's easy to collect and respond to. But feel free to post any general comments you've got here and I can answer them too. Thanks!
