Be aware that I'm a rabid fan of SH2. So if this isn't the most awesome thing ever you'll hear from me. At night. With a probe.

This is the best idea ever (the game, not the probing).

Fantastic :D This is one of my all time favorite games - good luck!
Actually thought about demaking this one myself, but so much of what makes the original work is tied into things a modern console can do - the camera being unable to see what's producing a given noise, sparse lighting, that sorta thing. I don't expect that this one will be easy...

Aw crap. Now I can stop developing my game. Say say. Since you develop that game I tried to develop but kinda fail at the skillz, could I help with the sound department? Like music and stuff... Just wondering...

Hey everyone.
I know there's a huge burden of responsibility to fans with having a go at this, which is why I won't enter it unless I have time to do it justice. It's my favourite game too (tied with SFII.) I'm working in games full-time now, so I have to squeeze it in between that, unlike the last two compos where I was self-employed.
C418, sadly the sound is my favourite part of making a game, as I was a musician / producer for ten years, so I'd really like to handle it. I've already written a couple of tunes in the style of Akira Yamaoka which I wanna use. Can you make sprites / animations / tiles?

I seriously hope you'll use stuff like restricted lighting (maybe just a simple flashlight mask). Otherwise good luck.

wow - looks fab! I never played SH 2, but loved the original on ps1. I tried SH 3, but it scared the bejeeza's out of me so had to sell it (the loading screen were made of red noise, intended so you see all sorts of made up nastiness in them, brrr).
You gotta get some spinetingling chip tunes in there!

Most of SH2 is musicless, in fact. Music kicks in in more emotional parts.
I'd also like to note that SH2 has one of the most beautiful scenes in any game ever.
**SPOILERS**
The flaming staircase scene
**END SPOILERS**

One of the very rare games which says something that couldn't be said in a movie / book. The multiple endings end up telling you something about yourself.
I don't think I'l reach the fiery staircase, I hope to get as far as the end of the Apt. building by the end of this month (although I have one ace pixeller onboard now), but at least you'll encounter you-know-who.
Got a nice idea for the mechanics too now. Will get as much done this weekend as I can.
