Many thanks to pgil, Calum Bowen, MortitzPGKatz, and Sam English for hosting the last four challenges. I hope to continue their brand of mind-expanding musical puzzles with the theme of Challenge V:
COMBAT
From interstellar to ancient, strategic operations to random one-on-one encounters; when experienced from behind our mouse or controllers, all combat deserves a stirring, electrifying musical backdrop.
Is this a surprise attack by enemy hordes? Is this a bout in an arduous hand-to-hand tournament? Is it the final battle that will win the war?
You decide.
HOWEVER: While almost every battle has a victor, there is also a loser. For this week's challenge, submit TWO pieces. Your entries must be identical in every way, except for their endings: one victory, the other defeat. Your endings must be seamless from the main body of the piece, and restrained to less than 15 seconds. Nobody wants to sit through a whole minute of defeat music! They want to get back in there and whip some tail! Please be clear in how you title your pieces for easy identification (e.g.: [Title]Victory, [Title]Defeat).
Guideline Breakdown
Submit two otherwise identical pieces that:
• Convey the thrill of battle • Seamlessly end in two different ways (Victory & Defeat) • Keep their endings under 0:15 • No genre or sound restrictions
Can't wait to hear what you guys come up with!
Ready?
FIGHT!

Deadline extenion, folks?
It's great that everyone's busy, my week's been somewhat slammed too.
Where are you guys with your pieces? Would having an extra weekend help?
I'll push it to Monday, if more than a couple folks need it.
Eager to hear what you've been up to!

I was going to try to crank out my idea today after work, but I would definitely appreciate an extension.

Sorry guys I don't think i am going to be able to submit anything this round. I hope there some good entries for me to listen to though. @RobMcDonald If you haven't seen the giant suit of power armor at the bestbuy on 355 Rockville pike you should check it out. I totally want it for my room. Best of luck everyone.

Niiiiice work, Dorkus1218! Really like what you came up with, that's exactly what I was looking for. Very cool groove. I would've loved juuuust a bit more length to your endings, but you fulfilled the guidlines to the letter!
Still time for more entries folks! I won't be able to extend this one any further, because the back half of my week is pretty packed.
Midnight tonight!

Judah, I have seen the power armor there! They're right up the street, even tho I usually avoid BB at all costs. Are you in the DC area?

Dang! I mean... Thanks! Really, though, thanks for the nice critique (I agree that more at the end would've been an improvement) and the cool challenge. I will try to make my followup just as good!

Congrats Dorkus! I really wish I had time to throw something together for this. @Robmcdonald I lived in silver spring for about a year. I was in Annapolis for a long time and played in a lot of bands in the Dc baltimore area.

Dorkus hasn't posted in 2 weeks. I'll send him an email, and if he doesn't reply in a couple of days, we'll pick someone else to host the next one.

Sorry for the delay! I'm blaming it falling through the cracks on a combination of struggling to settle on an idea, being busy at work, and being discouraged by the severe lack of turnout for #5.
The previous winner, who was also concerned, just PMed me the other day, and I told him I intend to get something up by Monday. If that comes and goes, please feel free to pass the torch!

It's 10:30 Eastern. I say we pick someone who will actually host it.
