The application of a 'cool' stance to such an inherently 'uncool' character works great. Good job!

Hey guys, looking great so far. Just wanted to ask, you guys getting permission from the original authors for the character use? I don't think it's life or death, but it would probably be polite. Man, I wish Minus was a famous indie character.

So far, we have Alec and Derek's permission for Naija, and Xerus's permission for the Golden Knight. We should definitely try to contact the other developers. Is anyone in contact with them?

I can contact Tarn (Dwarf Fortress), and also get Shih Tzu to ask Pixel about using Cave Story.

While you're talking to Shih Tzu, let him ask Ikiki as well. shall I, meanwhile, contact Nifflas for Juni? http://nifflas.ni2.se/index.php?main=01Home&sub=04Contact(I'll save a draft until you say yes)

We really have an Japanese indie games liaison? I thought those were just rumors! Also, that leaves: Noitu Love 2 (Shouldn't be hard, the maker is on these forums) Lugaru Trilby (I'm not even listing Fez on here. Sheesh.) Lyle Akuji Ip Sexy Hiker Gish Liero All told, we got some 'splaining to do.

Odd that I say that considering I was so more laid back about it in the demake compo. I guess I just enjoy these indie works better than the mainstream multimillion stuff.

Did some research: [email protected] <= Yahtzee's email [email protected] <= jazzuo's email, I think. It's off his old .cz site since his new one appears to be down right now.

Err.. I think we have a slight problem. I sent nifflas an E-mail for permission to use Juni, and this is the answer I got: Hey! To be honest, it's a tricky question. I have to say that I totally love the idea about an Indie Brawl game. I however always pictured the heroes in my games as rather helpless creatures who don't use violence, not mainly for moral reasons, but more for simply not having the capacity. I feel very strongly for that, so seeing Juni or another knytt fighting would be a bit weird to me... I'll have to think about it... It's easier if you want to pick one of the enemies in my game, but I guess the problem with that is that it's not recognized as much as a main hero. ...or you can always use the ball from Within a Deep Forest, I have less problems about that character being violent Best regards Nicklas Nygren

That makes sense, actually. We can drop Juni (she didn't really fit that well as a fighter anyways) and just represent Knytt Stories as a stage.

I'm pretty sure there are other indie female characters out there. I suppose... Or maybe design one from scratch. Or make the TIGS joystick a female as well as a playable character... Lotsa possibilities here

We would have to make up quite a lot of attacks for her. But she's certainly a cool and unique character. It seems like fighting games always have at least one fat guy but never a fat woman.
