Ok, so BC:R is out on Live today. I've been waiting for this for 20-odd years, so I picked it up on my lunch break and played the first two levels. So far it's excellent. I love how it feels almost exactly like the original, controls etc. are the same though more responsive. And the music is instantly recognizable... I can't really say much more right now, but I suspect this is GOTY for me.

I was watching some friends play this earlier today. One of the characters uses the word 'malarkey.' Instant Classic.
Anyone ever play the Gameboy color version? I thought that was a pretty good one too.

I got to play this at a pal's house yesterday. I'm really happy with it. It's very similar to the NES version, although easier in many ways (limited continues with an ultimate Game Over isn't really considered good game design these days). Grafficks are a bit more "gritty" than they need to be, but the game definitely doesn't take itself too seriously, and it's outright hilarious at times.
It's seriously worth it just for 2p mode. The split screen transition is handled gracefully -- reminds me of toejam & earl. We're planning on beating it tomorrow.

Shouldn't the Steam version be out by now? Or is that delayed too?

I was so impressed by the demo, in particular the dialogue on the computer, that I bought it.
I'm not so great at it, though, and I have died three times so far on the first boss.
Three times. First boss.

Reminds me of playing DMC3 for the first time. You know a game is a bit too tough when it unlocks Easy mode out of pity.

What mode are you playing on? I just beat it today, and the ending is just as awesome as the original. It's a shame that it was the only reason it was rated M, though.

Um, the middle one. It's probably called "medium," but you never know these days with games and their crazy difficulty level names. I've beaten the first level now! Jsticker told me the secret of the boss and then, placing his hat with a flourish upon his godly crown, disappeared into the night.

yea I could understand someone jumpin into it first time would think the controls are bad, I think alot of the challenge is working with the goofy claw shooting controls haha, either that or my 360 control is boned

I spent a few hours playing coop tonight with a friend. It's totally badass. Just like the original game, but better in every regard. Art by Shinkiro! YES!

Did BC:R brick your xbox, or did it brick itself?
