I kinda like starseed pilgrim more than hl:m, although both are good. I haven't finished either tho (can you finish ssp? I have no clue)

Interesting. Where's all the bitching about who won and who didn't?
Did the IGF get it right this year, or did TIGgers give up hope?
For reference: Kentucky Route Zero got Excellence in Visual Art 140 got Excellence in Audio Little Inferno picked up Technical Excellence Zineth grabbed the student award. FTL left the house with the Audience Award and Excellence in Design Cart Life swept up the Nuovo, the Narrative Excellence, and the Grand Prize

I wish Super Hexagon and Hotline Miami had won something, but overall I was pretty happy with how it went. Was interesting how much indies dominated the GDC awards after IGF, too - much less love for AAA than in previous years.

Weird I thought they made those announcements a month ago. Maybe that was nominations or something.

mostly the discussion occurred in tigirc, as usual. you guys who just visit the forums and not irc are missing like 8/10ths of tigsource

The "regular" award was also indie driven, why there is a difference now?

KRZ, Zineth, Cart Life definitely deserved their nods, although I would've liked to see something else for Grand Prize. Don't know about 140. Little Inferno for Technical? For fire fx I guess? I can't think of another reason, it was basically a very stylish one-joke game. FTL for Design :/ FTL is incredibly inconsistent. Audience sure, and I do find it fun, but it's not very well balanced and not as deep as it looks, since your optimum strategy is largely fixed based on your weapon loadout and has no real sway over whether you'll suddenly die or not. I'd much rather have seen Starseed win, partly because it's droqen and partly because it's an incredibly well-executed, simple concept.

i feel bad for cactus; hotline miami had the most nominations, but no prizes. not saying it "deserved" to win and the others didn't or anything like that, since i haven't actually played most of the games, but just saying it's #1 (by far) on the tigsource's favorite indie games of 2012 poll that i still have to post and didn't get a single prize at the igf

FTL was fun for the first couple runs until i realized it's basically a grind and the randomization hurts it more than anything.
Hotline was the first "big name" indie in a long time that i was really excited for and that I felt actually delivered on its promises.
Will have to play Starseed now.

i just remember hearing some team meat interview where they mentioned people didnt want HM to get grand or something cuz they were too popular. that is a bit weird, but HM is doing ridiculously well so it's not like they were much hurt by it - it's certainly helpful for cart life to have won.
