Edge Of Space is a dynamic, open world sandbox survival adventure game.  Where  you build, create, mold, and work to survive and change the area around you.  ON: PC/MAC

Edge of Space is about the journey of surviving in the deepest, darkest, weirdest, and possibly most interesting part of the known universe. How long have you been in cryo-sleep? No one really knows, and we doubt you will be thinking about that as you try to explore, scavenge, build, survive, and fight rocket-powered, cybernetically-enhanced laser sharks wanting to feed on you.


Edge of Space is the story about—wait, that's not quite right. It's a journey of the proud men and women of ArkCo. Going where no one has wanted to go or was technically “meant” to go. You were one of the few, the proud, and the lucky to be on the ship that found this lonely, Bermuda Triangle-like area in the depths of space.

May it be luck, fate, reasons unknown, or perhaps an unsigned int. This ship has chosen an extremely volatile habitat as the perfect place to colonize..

I hope you don't mind me saying that it looks somewhat similar to Terraria, and in turn Starbound (a kind-of-sequel set in space made by one of Terraria's developers). Your release date is fairly close to Starbound too, with you both aiming for late Summer 2012.

Are you looking to differentiate yourself from those games on a mechanics level? It looks like you're following the tropes laid down by Minecraft and Terraria in terms of crafting, base construction and I assume progress through tiers of tools/weapons/armour. Is that accurate?

We have a heavy focus on interesting combat in the style of castlevania or metroid, including multi-stage bosses. As well as a lot of focus on the survival aspect of the game the world reacts to just about everything you do in interesting and dynamic ways, Alot of people assume we are just like Terraria because a screenshot makes it appear that way but gameplay is vastly different. One of our major interesting features is the power grid system, we will be releasing a video of it in the near future. Its alot like programming a circuit board to do a vast range of complicated actions for you, or simple if you just have a small goal in mind.



A BIG feature we are very happy about is our Modding tools, you will be able to create creatures, weapons and placeables customized with C# scripts that are compiled into a special module that your server uses and uploads to connecting clients, so you can create new interesting gameplay on your own and its automatically synced to new players.

also one more thing.

We will be doing beta development and letting people in the game June 8th if they pledged at least $15 to our kickstarter, so you will be able to get into the game much sooner.
