Yay. It progresses. It's amazing how normal maps can make things look pretty, even when their 2D texture is actually pretty bad (sorry)  Wink
This is a good approach I guess.

Cool chiptunes jeko, thanks for the offer but I'm not looking for any sound designers at the moment.

seagaia you sound drunk, I like that.

kamac, textures are flat/lack shading so the normals can do their thing so they look bad on their own.

The new video looks cool.  I like all the green stuff, it looks very nice, especially that chest and the vines.  Speaking of chests, I'm wondering what you could get in that green chest...

Good luck at IGF.

Thanks everyone Smiley

interesting sound design. Smiley

Any opinions on the sound? Would love feedback as it's an area I want to experiment with a lot and get right, yet it's the part of making games I have the least knowledge of. I want the audio to be a big part in the atmosphere of the game.

I have some news, pretty big news for me personally and for this game.

I have quit my day job.

It's a giant risk for me and I'm terrified in all sorts of ways, but excited about the next chapter of my life unfolding - an adventure I need to take. I've been considering it for a long time and after doing some calculations it seems like now is an optimal time to go for it.

I have a 3 month notice period so starting in the new year I'll be a full time indie developer WTF

Beer! Congratulations and good luck! It's a giant risk, yes, but I can understand the urge (having surrendered to it myself). Sure you have a promising work to start with.

That's pretty massive news. And it's not an easy decision to make. Hope it turns out to be the right move.

Although having played Chroma I'm sure it'll be a great success.

Cheers. It's probably been the most difficult decision I've ever had to make - but I have to do it, and want to do it more than anything.

It's a lot of pressure though; I've wanted to go full time making games for so long, now that I'm actually doing it I'm effectively putting my life's dream on the line.
The thought of failing is scary, but what's scarier is the thought of being too afraid to try, so in that regard I think I've made the right choice.

Time will tell! Smiley

Great attitude! Good luck with your decision pal Wink

As much pressure as this means, I think you will be happy no matter what. Worst case scenario, you might have to find yourself another day job, but this time knowing you at least made a serious attempt at your lifelong dream, hence no more regrets on your way!

But all in all, I think you'll be doing great!
